What has people's experience been with finding a psychologist to do the presurgical evaluation, and getting it covered by insurance? I've heard that some people have to pay out of pocket. What's your experience? Thanks

depends on your surgeon- does he/she have a specific list yo uhave to choose from? Does your Insurance plan have a list of psychologists- does your coverage include psychological counseling?

I had no problems with insurance covering my psychologist visit. I had to go to a doctor and not a counselor according to my insurance coverage. I went to Dr. Rothschild - I think he was in Bloomfield - it was a very easy visit! Best of luck! Tammy

My insurance didn't cover my"Shrink Test" Just looked at it as a small price to pay for a life changing "Journey". Good Luck, Julio

Hi, I went to the required psychologist to go to by Dr Aranow and since she's part of Middlesex Hospital's employ, my insurance covered the two visits. I just had to pay my copays. Who's your surgeon? Most surgeons have a psych they want you to go to because they're trained in what to ask and cover during the visits. Kim Daniels PhD out of Middlesex Hosp is very good. paula

I have Anthem Bl/C Bl/S through my husband's union and now that you mention it, I paid out of pocket and never submitted it. Guess I should do that. It didn't cost much, mine was $100.00 and she came to my house to do the eval.
