I saw Dr Barba yesterday. I just love him. He is so great and comforting, and immediately puts me at ease. I was of course a bit nervous, but it was no big deal at all. He said to lay down....I was a little intimidated by the size of the needle......and he said just a little poke......and once he punctured the skin he moved the tip of the needle around just a little to find the port (which was pretty easy to find thank god) and I felt him push the needle into the port, which was a very strange sensation, and he said thats it. I was like are you serious. He said yes. He put 1cc into my 5cc band, and then took it out a few mins later just to make sure it was not leaking and everything was okay. Then he put it back in again once he sees its all there. He booked me another appt for 6 wks. Last night I ate just fine and also today. I cant tell there was any adjustment at all. I may call him to put more in sooner. I know Tammy was curious as to the procedure so there it was in a nutshell. Also....I hope Jessica doesnt mind me saying this...but....she looks fabulous for just having her TT 12 days ago. I cant believe she is back to work already. She is even more of a skinny minny than she was before. You go girl!!! Oh and I hope you get to soon too. I know you must be exhausted! Also want to say hi to Bette. We met for lunch before the appt. She is so funny, she just kills me. I am sure to her I looked 100% different since last time she saw me I was a but out of it and right after surgery. I cant wait to see her again.. Thanks Bette, its always great talking to you. Take care all and have a great weekend! Bree

Thanks for the details Bree - it sounds easy! I'm scheduled for 4/27 - they couldn't get me in any sooner....... When he stuck the needle in and took the fluid out again - does he stick you again or does the needle stay in the entire time he's taking the fluid out and putting it back in? You didn't have to have liquids for the first day after the fill?? They didn't have you drink any water while in the office? Those are two things I hear so many people talk about on the lapband forum......... I'm so happy that it was a good experience for you and your port was so easy to find! Talk to you later! Warm Regards, Tammy

Hi there Bree, It can take a week or more for a fill to "kick in", although who knows why. It is a gradual thing, but you'll be aware of the changes as they occur. Make sure you eat very s-l-o-w-l-y so you don't get into trouble (like I did). A lot of bandsters are much tighter in the morning and that sensation eases a little during the day. Everyone is different, however... Good luck to you! Mary M, Another Band Sister
