Stage 4...Help!...? stricture
I was started on stage 4 yesterday. I ate some cottage cheese for lunch and had no problems. I had chicken for dinner (pureed and very moist). The first bite gave me chest pain but I figured the bite was a little much. I took another bite(much smaller) and had wicked chest pressure. It hurt for 2 hours I threw up mucous 4 times bfore the chicken came up. (Sorry for the graphic details). I felt instantly better. There is no way it was too much. The total weight of the chicken was less than 2 ounces. I am seeing the surgeon today. I just wondered if anyone else has been through this.
Thanks in advance!!
Toni
Hi Toni! Good that you will have doctr check it out but It took me a while to get chicken down even after throwing it into my food processor with a little mayo. They will be able to tell if anythings wrong and take care of it quickly and painlessly. Just stick to foods that go down ok for now and keep drinking your fluids! Have to keep hydrated and your protien level up! Good Luck and Take Care, Julio
Hi Toni, E mailed you some tips that worked for me. Some foods take a long time for you to tolerate. Can barely eat rice to this day. Eating when your upset is also very bad, and with a 15 year old in my house, it can happen alot! LOL. Just take it a baby step at a time. Remember, you are learning a whole new way to eat again.I weighed things the first couple of months, after that you can tell what your portions should look like.Eating on those dessert dishes works well too as you meal looks a bit silly sitting on a dinner plate. Know you will do ok, Take Care, Julio
I had the same thing happen to me when I was first out of surgery on stage 4. I went into the hospital to have a xray thingy taken to make sure there weren't any strictures and there weren't.
What it was for me was that I could NOT do chicken that early on if it was mashed up and with light mayo. My pouch just could NOT handle it at all.
I am sure you will be fine. Have you tried Tuna? I was ok with that try that and let me know.
