So I am offically back to work!! Its been 12 days since my surgery (counting weekends) and I was bored to tears being home, so I am back. I'm feeling great other than being really tight and tired. This surgery was 100 times easier than my lap bypass. I haven't touched pain meds since the night I left the hospital (the 10th). My only complaint is that I am not sleeping. Honestly, I have not slept since before surgery. I have tried OTC sleeping pills as well as Ambien but nothing is working. Any suggestions??? Jessica

Hey there Jessica, Welcome back, I am not up on sleeping pills you should check with your doctor about that. Thats great not needing the pain meds, I was pretty lucky with that too. Good luck to you sweetie and congratulations on your successful surgery. Welcome to the family. Hugs KimC

I am so glad your surgery and recovery has gone well. As for not sleeping try reading a while before you go to bed or take a hot bath to relax. Take care. Sher

Sorry to hear your not sleeping Jessica. Need to get rest! Talk it over with your doctor. Try puuting a few drops of lavender oil in that hot bath as well. Suppose to be quite soothing. Take Care, Julio

We were getting worried about you!!! How much skin did he lop off ya??? Are the results what you expected? As for not sleeping- if Ambien isn't working.....try a good stiff drink LOL- you know us post ops - it doesn't take much to put us out.

I wish that I could take a bath but not until all the scabs fall off...I did talk to Dr. Barba about not sleeping and he told me to try something OTC, and that didn't help. We are still waiting for pathology to come back with the final number but he said that it was like 9-10 lbs of skin that was taken off. He told me that because I waited so long to have this done (my bypass was 3.5 yrs ago), it was 99% skin and that made the surgery that much easier. I was very happy to hear that! My waist is so tiny but then random parts of me are still really swollen so they stick out...I think that I look odd right now but from behind my waist looks really good. I am glad that I had it done. I can't wait to see what I look like once I am all healed and unswollen. Jessica

Hey - I'm glad to hear you're doing so well! Welcome back to the rat race! :P Have you tried meditation to get relaxed? Are you having racing thoughts? A very old and simple remedy to help with sleep is a cup of warm milk.........it's worth a shot. Also turkey has something it in that makes you sleepy..........I hope you find some way to help get some rest Could it be anxiety perhaps? Maybe it's not a sleeping pill you need - maybe a little anti anxiety help? Hang in there! Warm Regards, Tammy

jessica, not sure if this is coming too late to help you, maybe some of the other suggestions have helped, but i thought i'd add my 2 cents! camomile tea, then melatonin, those 2 would definately put me out like a light...
