Re: How the Rally went today in Hartford
Hi Everyone!
I just wondered how we made out today with the bill for Gastric Bypass?
I unfortuately had to work or I would have gone because unfortuately I was effected by the exclusion in my Connecticare policy back in October. I am really hoping and praying that this bill will get passed. It's ver discouraging when you go thru all the preop stuff and then told "Sorry we won't cover your surgery". It's very upsetting. I thank all the people that went today to Hartford to fight for our rights to be Thin again.I read the message boards all the time and I see and feel how close everyone is and I hope someday I get to meet and chat with all of you wonderful people.

We are all bringing varoious things to share throughout the day and we will all be there telling our stories and sharing with anyone new who needs help.
Please come and meet everyone its a great group and we are like one big happy family.
Good luck with your surgery and hope it is all straightened out with these idiodic insurances.

Hi Hydie,
Welcome to Ct Message board! I do understand your feeling about insurance issues. I recevied email from my town senator and she will fight to pass bills. I know my wonderful Doctor Dr Aranow will be there to fight for this bills to pass. I am keeping my toes and fingers crossed it will pass then I will cheer for you and other pre op people.
Like Kim C. said about WLS Picnic party on June 24th, you will make new friends and ask people any questions about this surgery and how we still use our tools to make our successful journeys. Good Luck and hope to meet you there
Take care,
Kathy K
HI all,
I have Connecticare too so I would love to see the bill passed. I was told I have to see my PCP for 6 months before I would be approved. Does anyone know if this has changed all together or does it very by employer? Any info would be helpful when I call Connecticare I just get a run around and no one seems to know anything.. Thanks to everyone who supports this bill
JEN
Jen,
I was told by Connecticare this morning that as of Jan 1, 2006,
no way, no how they will cover WLS, even if it is a medical necessity. Apparently the employer has to purchase a special plan in order for it to be covered. Then Connecticare told me my
COBRA premiums were going to be $496.65 a month and I have to pay back to january. This was how my day started.
