I have been thinking about WLS for a while now and finally decided to go for it. I am going with Dr. Giles (he did my moms 6 years ago she did great) I have gone to the seminar two weeks ago and have all of my pre op appointments set. My last one will be 8/19 (my birthday ) I hope all goes well. I dont have to do the 6 month diet like i had to do on my other insurance plan so that made me a little happy. Today i went and did all of my blood work which was HARD (12 tubes of blood) and i have never given blood before.
I am really excited i hope all my tests come back good and i will be approved for my surgery from my insurance company fast.

I am just ready for this change!!
Please send any advice you ahve for pre or post op
Thanks

Congratulations on making the decision to have WLS. What procedure do you plan on  having?

Even though you do not have to do the six month diet it is a good idea to start making some small changes in your eating and drinking and exercise routine. Look over all the info you have been given and get familiar with what kind of program your doctor will have you on.

Wishing you all the best for a clean bill of health and a quick approval from your insurance company.

Don't hesitate to ask any questions here, I am sure someone will be around to offer their support and advice.

Sher

ps. My WLS (RNY) gave me my life back.

Welcome to the CT board - and congratulations on your life changing decision - best of luck to you on your journey!

12 viles of blood is hard - a couple of months ago I actually had to leave the lab and go back another day because I wasn't hydrated enough- I'll never do that again!

WELCOME aboard..to our Connecticut board!!  There are some very, VERY nice people here...quite a few have stood by me...I know that they have my back....my advice is read, read, read...EVERYTHING!  My favorite WLS book has got to be BEFORE AND AFTER "Living & Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery" by Susan Maria Leach...Once I started reading it I couldn't put it down...I also gave it to my Mom to read because she heard so many negative things about the surgery...it put her mind to ease!

WE ARE PUT ON THIS EARTH NOT TO SEE THROUGH EACH OTHER...BUT TO SEE EACH OTHER THROUGH

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one
hand,  mudslide in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and
  screaming !   HOT DAMN.....WHAT A RIDE!!

BECOME THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE
