WLS Spring Dance Mar. 4th
Hi, All!
Since my last post about the dance no longer appears on the front page of our message board, it's time to post again. Our Spring Gala is less than a week away. It's the 2nd annual WLS Spring Gala and will be held on Sat., Mar. 4th, from 7 p.m. till midnight. This is a fundraiser for A.S.B.S., just like the Walk from Obesity which is held annually in Sept. Once again this year the dance will be at Il Monticello (on the Meriden-Wallingford line). For $20 per person, we get a DJ and bountiful hors d'oeuvres. There'll be enough variety (including high-protein selections) and quantity to be dinner, even for non-ops. There'll be a cash bar and, like last year, there'll be non-carbonated, non-caffeinated, non-alcoholic, low-calorie choices (besides water) for those who want them.
The dance is open to everyone, even if they have no idea what WLS is. (Since it's a fundraiser, we'll take money from anyone.

Last year we had a pretty good turnout from this board; hopefully even more will come this year. Please tell your friends, too. Some people are coming with significant others, but there are plenty who'll be coming alone, so don't hesitate to come either way.
Tickets will be available at some of the support group meetings in the area (and at Dr. Aranow's office) and Carla Minutillo and I also have tickets for sale. If you're interested, let Carla or me know and we'll figure out whether you should mail a check or if you might be seeing one of us at a meeting.

P.S. The tables seat 8 people and last year we reserved several tables together for this board. Not that we were sitting all the time, but it made it easier to meet, mingle and catch up with each other. I'll be reserving some tables again this year, so if you want to sit with us (or want a table for you and the group of friends you're bringing along), let me know.

At this point it's too late for you to mail a check and have tickets mailed back, so if you're interested in attending the dance, pls. e-mail me ASAP and let me know how many tickets you'd like to get at the door. This way I can e-mail you back directions and also, we'll have a more accurate head count to be sure that we have enough food and tables set up. Besides, I want to make sure that I reserve enough tables for the members of this board. The dance committee is meeting Tues. evening to finalize plans, so if you're going to e-mail me, pls. do it by 1st thing Tues. morning.

Ooh, directions. Directions would be great! I am all psyched up to go but b/c I don't have my tickets I don't know where or have directions or anything. Can you post those here actually? I am sure that I am not the only one who doesn't have directions and that will save you having to answer 100 emails later on in the week.

Good idea! Here are the directions:
Directions to Il Monticello Restaurant & Banquet
466 South Broad St. (Rt. 5) Meriden/Wallingford line
From Hartford area: Take 91 South to exit 18 (691 West). Get off at exit 8, turning left at the end of the exit onto Broad St. (Rt. 5). Follow Broad St. for approx. 3 miles. The restaurant will be on your right across from Townline Plaza (Old Navy, Pier 1, Shop Rite).
From New Haven area: Take 91 North to exit 15 (Rt. 68). At the end of the exit, turn left onto Rt. 68. Follow this for approx. 2 miles (about 8 lights****il at the bottom of the hill you turn right onto the connector to Rt. 5. At the light turn right onto Rt. 5. Follow Rt. 5 for 1 mile and the restaurant will be on the left (immediately after you pass Kohl's Plaza on the right).
From Rt. 15 North or South (Merritt/Wilbur Cross Parkway): Take exit 66 (Rt. 5). At the end of the exit turn right onto Rt. 5. Follow Rt. 5 for 1 mile and the restaurant will be on the left (immediately after you pass Kohl's Plaza on the right).
From Waterbury area: Take 84 East to exit 27 (691 East). Get off at exit 8, turning left at the end of the exit onto Broad St. (Rt. 5). Follow Broad St. for approx. 3 miles. The restaurant will be on your right across from Townline Plaza (Old Navy, Pier 1, Shop Rite).

Hi Deb , can you please count me in for four more tickets...I can't get to the meeting tonight(ate something not right)...I will pay for those at the door . I know you guys need an accurate head count. Can't wait to party with this great group of people....see you saturday!!! .......Drea
