Hi everyone. I am new to OH and this board. I'd like to participate fully and meet new friends. I'm a 39y/o married chick with 3 kids. I live on the Southeastern shoreline. My surgery date is March 6th, so I'm busy trying to learn every morsel that I might have missed. Please feel free to contact me. And BTW...what's this I'm hearing about "Angels"? How do you get one and what does he/she do? Thanks, Laura

Welcome to the OH Family Laura, I wanted to say welcome to our wls family here on the oh board. As you will see there are many loving and supportive people on this board. We have all become great friends and we help eachother out through our good times and bad times. If your available on Saturday we are having a dinner dance at Monticello's in Wallingford/Meriden at 7pm. Its $20 a person and it goes towards the abs foundation and our walk too. You can meet alot of great people there who are preop, postop or thinking about having the surgery too. Try and come if you can and mee some of us. An angel by the way is someone you can ask for to keep us all informed on your surgery and your recovery. That person takes on the responsiblity of keeping in touch with you, visiting you and helping you in any way possible. There are alot of great people here on the board in your are who would be great at this. Post on the board you are looking for an angel and you will get a great response. I wish I could volunteer but I live in Milford, CT and its too far for me to go to New London. But I am here for you if you have questions or concerns. Good Luck and hope to see you on the 4th. Hugs KimC 325/218/150

Hi Laura and welcome You will find lots of wonderful people here and a lot of support. Please feel free to ask any questions you have at all no matter how silly you might think it is. Sometimes those are the important ones. I know this board helped me through the beginning stages so much and I still rely on it almost two years out. Maggie

By the way... An angel is someone who helps you through surgery. Will call the hospital to make sure everything went ok. Post on the board to let everyone know you are alright, and help you with any questions you might have. If you want an angel, all you have to do is make a post and title it looking for an angel. Hi everybody...and thanks so much for all your kind words. It sounds like I have a couple of questions to answer so here goes... My surgery is with Dr. Valin at St. Raphael's. My children are 13 (girl), 7 (girl) and 4 (boy). I work as a PACS Administrator at Backus Hospital. I'm working on trying to get Chris Lodi to do a Flex program at Backus this spring. If anyone is interested, please let me know. Still counting down for surgery...6 days. I hope everything works out well.
