Good News
Well I saw my PCP today and she said she will work with me and my insurance company. I will weigh in at the office for 6 months and then she will write a letter to the insurance company. She was soooo great and said I should do wonderful. Anyway just thought I would share. Six months seems like a long time but I hope it will go by fast.

HI Jen - I went through the 6 month doctor supervised diet so I know how you feel, I just think it really stinks that they changed the rules on your mid-stream - but it is what it is and you have a great attitude! I can also tell you, the 6 months will go by fast and it will give you a lot of time to reflect about your relationship with food........Just make sure that Connecticare doesn't need you to have 7 visits counting for 6 months - that's the way Cigna worked - the first visit counted as #1 and not a monthly visit - you know what I mean? Make sure you get this completely straight with them because you don't want to get to July and submit everything and have them come back at you with any bs...... I had Connnecticare when I had my baby and I was truly impressed with them - I really think they do a great job...........
Anyway - hang in there and best of luck and before you know it, you'll be ready to roll!
Best Regards,
Tammy

Bernadette - You are so right, the 6 months is a stupid, stupid obstacle - it only prolonged things, my PCP thought it was a waste of time too - but we knew we had to play by their rules - here I am - still fat after 6 months - duh! It doesn't make one bit of difference - the only purpose the 6 months serves is for the insurance companies to weed people out - I believe that some people are not willing to do it and that just saves the insurance company an illusion of money - because the people who don't do the 6 months most likely will get some type of weight related illness that the insurance has to pay for anyway.......I guess we'll never truly know the reasoning behind the 6 month rule - and what's magic about 6 months anyway? Why not 5 or 7? Who determined that 6 months has any relevance what-so-ever in a persons ability to commit to a lifestyle change? 6 months compared to a life time is a drop in a bucket - unless you're only 1!
Okay - off the soap box - You are right - I doubt anyone has a break though after 6 months and says - oh yeah - forget it, I want to go back on the yo-yo cycle now - I forgot how fun it is to lose and gain, lose and gain!
Best Regards,
Tammy
