I swear I am having occasional gall bladder attacks. The funny thing is I could also swear I had the GB out 5 years ago. I have also been having left of the incision pain. Really sharp . whenever I strain. (poop, cough, sneeze lift a patient) I am what 6 weeks out? Otherwise I feel okay- having some pouch adjustment going on- it has its likes and dislikes and sometimes what I want it to like it does not like- but we all go that route. ( I mean normal stuff like poultry- not crap like a twinkie...) I see Aranow next week- hopefully he has some answers- at least he shold that's what he gets the big bucks for.

Hi Benadette, I found that poultry took a while to get used to and I was throwing it in the food processor with some mayo to make it into very creamy chicken salad. At the beginning things like meat need the extra moisture in them to be tolerated by our pouches. Definitly find out about those pains, more than likely just gas as your starting to adjust to eating again with your new pouch. Best of luck! Julio

Bernadette: Yes... meat does need lots of moisture in the early stages of eating. And remember, you are still in those early days. In addition to what Julio offered (great advise he always has for us)... ... what I did was put some (can get at TJ's) squash soup in with or on my chicken to make it as moist as possible. Also... I am wondering ... how much are you lifting at this point... REF: "lift a patient" ??? While I understand it is part of your job description, it might be something you can discuss with Dr. A. and possibly get some modifications of how you can lift with less strain... or get help while doing so... or put off for a while longer? Can you think about doing light duty for a while? Some thoughts to ponder. Towanda

There is no such thing as light duty in the nursing world I come from I do home care. It's just you and the patient and if they are bedridden and the dressing you need to change is on their backside- or they are in a chair and the lower leg is where the wound is- you end up lifting twisting moving squatting- whatever it takes.

Hey Bernie! I still need to eat with lots of "juice." I'm a big fan of the new Heinz fat free gravy. I put it on a lot of my meat. Helps it slide down better. Hope you start feeling better. Say hi to the doctor for me. ;) Tammy
