Endoscopy Complete!

I went for my endoscopy today and it was not the best experience in the world. First of all yesterday I started getting a little bit of a cold so I didn't feel that great to begin with. My appointment wasn't until 2:00 so I couldn't drink or eat anything - I kept squirting Listerine mouth spray to keep my mouth lubricated. Well I was so dehydrated that when they tried to put the IV in me they couldn't find a good vein - it was partially my fault because I asked them to please not put the IV in my hand - I've had it in my hand before and it takes forever to heal and is sore for so long..... well the nurse couldn't find a vein after sticking me twice, then the anestetist (however you spell it) started poking around - I have this big huge yellow, blue and purple spot that's about 3 inches long and 2 inches across. The IV nurse stuck my other HAND and got it in, and it actually didn't hurt and feels just fine now - every other time I've had an IV in my hand it has always hurt. There were 6 people in my little pre-op room at one time all trying to figure out how to get the IV in my tiny, moving veins - I will NEVER have a procedure done in the afternoon again - I need to be a morning person - Dr. Giovanni did the endoscopy - she was very nice. It went by really quick - I was in the OR laying on my side with a white plastic thing in my mouth one minute and the next (or so it seemed) minute I was being wheeled into post-op - I was kind of out of it - the nurse looked at me and said "you're done" and I must have been dreaming about my son because I looked at her and said "I thought you were Nathan".....she must be used to hearing people say stupid things like that..... I felt really bloated, tired and had a really bad headache - I thought I would be really hungry but I wasn't - I felt like I wanted to burp and also a little nausiated - I know this is supposed to be a nothing procedure so I feel like a big baby - but that's how things usually go for me! I'm still very dried out, I think having a cold isn't helping matters. Oh well - at least it's over and done with! Now it's time for me to go to bed Thanks for listening! Oh yeah - I also received my IMPACT advanced recovery drink in the mail - that stuff is nasty - there is NO WAY I can drink it! Best Regards, Tammy Count Down: 16 days!

Thank you Kim! This was an absolute learning experience for me... Do you know if your veins get easier to work with when you lose weight? Or are veins one of the things that just never change? Best Regards, Tammy Count Down: 15 days!
