Delayed Post-op Pain

Hi everyone, I am almost three weeks out from Lap RNY and the pain in my stomach seems to be getting worse instead of better. I stopped taking my Tylenol & Codeine about 2 days after my discharge and was doing fine until Dr. Nadzam advanced me to Stage 4 pureed foods last Monday. The first day or two was okay, but now I am finding I am in pain more and more often. Of course, I also started back to work part-time so maybe that's part of it too. Not used to sitting up in a desk chair for 4 hours at a time. I don't wanna be a "baby" about this, but neither do I want to ignore something that might be a problem. Anyone else have similar story? I do plan to call Dr. Nadzam tomorrow.

Whats with this delayed pain stuff? I'm new at this and I don't wanna know about pain. Just give me happy drugs and I'll be fine Seriously I wish you all the best.

HI PATRIQUE; I HAVEN'T HAD THE SURGERY YET BUT I'VE BEEN RESEARCHING FOR ABOUT A YEAR AND WHAT I FOUND IS THAT PAIN IS NORMAL WHEN YOU CHANGE THE DIET, SOME THINGS ARE GOING TO FIT BETTER IN YOUR STOMACH THAN OTHERS. YOU MAY TOLERATE MASH POTATOES OR FISH ONE WEEK AND NOT THE OTHER . IF YOUR PAIN GROWS IN INTENSITY AND IS THERE WITH ANY FOOD YOU PUT IN YOU SHOULD GO TO THE DOCTOR. IT'S NOT NORMAL THAT YOU HAVE A "GROWING PAIN" WITH EVERYTHING YOU PUT IN YOUR POUCH! BEST WISHES! Nory 2006

Hey Patrique, I am sorry to hear you arent doing hand springs over there. I dont want to say what is normal or what is not, because everyone "journey" is differant. I would definatly call the doctor tomorrow, becasue I dont think pain is anything we should ignore. Dont feel like you are "being a baby" your body is talking to you, and you have to listen! Call the doc, and let us know your outcome. In the meantime, I will keep you in my thougths! Sweet Mammy

hi there, I am only about two weeks out, just had my follow up with Dr.Nadzam today and he said that my pain(lower left side of my belly{apron}) might have been caused by some nerve damge or a nerve cut during surgery. I guess that could explain the numbness and then pain as the nerves regrow...as far as tummy pain..I find each day is different and new, I had scrambled eggs today when I got home, needed to chew(yuck liquids) and about ten mins later felt like I ate all of Thanksgiving day dinner and then some......my solution((NO LIE))) I went shopping to Walmart to walk off the pain and get my mind off it...worked til I got home ...Now, sitting is sore...I hope you feel better...maybe you needed to stay home a bit longer??or TOTALLY relax when you get home...??Hopefully this will pass.....Drea
