Exercise question
Hi all! I'm a LapBand pre-op...Things are progressing nicely.. The only test I have left is an Upper Endoscopy which I have scheduled for this coming Monday. Looking forward to being on the losing side soon!
I have a question regarding exercise. I have been going to Curves for over two years now (which I enjoy) but once I am banded and start losing more weight I'd like to add on more activities. Has anyone ever done or is anyone presently doing jazzercize? If so, is it something that can be started pre-op or is it best done when you are closer to goal. I'm not sure of the intensity level of the classes...I heard of jazzercize years ago but don't know anyone who has ever gone. Any input would be appreciated! Thanks!! Angie
Hi Angie -
Welcome to the CT Boards. Glad to hear your journey is going well so far. Wish you all the best!
Jazzercise - one of my all time favorite exercise classes! Unfortunately there aren't any near enough for me to attend anymore, otherwise I would be there! I'm doing aerobics classes near me instead.
As with all forms of exercise you have to go at your own pace. Jazzercise is essentially a little more dance oriented than aerobics and it most certainly can be started pre-op. Naturally it will get easier and easier as you get lighter and lighter!! The point is to move. Don't worry about getting all the moves perfectly, do what you can and keep at it. Jazzercise also has a mat/toning portion and cool down/stretch.
I would go for it!!! Good luck!!!
Hugs,
Carla
Hi Angie,
Absolutely get into an exercise routine prior to surgery...It not only starts getting you into shape, but also prepares your body for surgery and you'll have a better recovery...
I don't have jazzersize around me at all, so I'm on my own to do aerobic exercise. I wish I did have it because I enjoy exercise with more of a dance interest involved...
Good luck with your banding...and with becoming a BIG loser! Dr Aranow did my surgery (RNY) last Sept 28th and I'm down a lot already! It's great.

Hello Angie,
I started to have my personal trainer when I was three weeks after my surgery and still using my personal trainer and do alot of cardio exercise with machines and tried new things for adventures like running, kayak on whitewater river, climb rock on the walls , Swimming laps in the pool etc..
Good Luck with your exercise journey
