I am not too sure as I was having problems with heartburn and reflux and he called me in a prescription. I would say to call the office and if he is on call he will call it in for you also. It worked GREAT. Sorry I couldn't answer about the Tums. Lisa

Well, for what? If you are looking for it for heartburn, yes. As a calcium suppliment, it is calcium carbonate based and required 1.5 hours in a stomach to dissolve. Since the pouch will NEVER hold anything that long, won't help you at all. Peter

It is for heartburn. I don't get it often but I know tums help. Thank you for the info. Have a great day! Chrissy
