Hi Kathy and my old friends here at CT OH I walked four miles yesterday and I am headed to the gym today after work. Tomorrow I hope to see some of my old friends at the Post op Support meeting in Middletown. Just an update...I feel wonderful. No weight gain--no big weight loss. I am beginning to think this is where my body wants to be, since I have maintained this weight for the last year. When was I EVER able to say that? B-1 slice rye toast with melted cheese 12g protein S-1/2 cup of cottage cheese-6 gms protein L-healthy choice chicken parm dinner without the noodles...but I am eating the broccoli-19 gms protein S-1 sl rye toast w/cheese melted 12 g D-I will eat after the meeting--so hopefully something light like grilled checken and salad Have a sparkling day gang! Hi Everybody again, Want to share this from my friend emailed me this Healthy carbs Healthy carbs are those that are as unprocessed as possible in their natural and whole form. Include more healthy carbs in your low-carb lifestyle. Some healthy carbs need to be consumed in moderation, and some choices in each group are considered more low-carb acceptable than others. Here are some examples of healthy carbs: Plant-based foods (veggies are key) Certain fresh fruits Certain dairy products Lean meats Fish and seafood Poultry Nuts and seeds Whole grains (in moderation) Legumes (in moderation) Because healthy carbs are slow to metabolize in your body, they help you avoid spikes in your glycemic index. Sharpen your carb consciousness and discover that fresh is best. The more fresh foods that you can pack into your low-carb healthy lifestyle, the more of a winner you become. Carbs that aren't so healthy Simple carbs are absorbed by your body so quickly that they immediately hit your bloodstream with a rush, and an almost instantaneous gush of insulin follows. This gush floods the cells with the simple sugar of energy for your body. This process takes you on what you might know as a sugar high, whether you have ingested sugar or another simple carbohydrate. You experience a quick surge of energy and then a crash that usually comes with a craving. Not a healthy situation for you or your healthy low-carb lifestyle. Some of these "not-so-healthy carbs" include but are not limited to the following products: Refined sugars and products containing refined sugars, such as doughnuts, cookies, cakes, candies, and soda White flours and products containing white flours, such as breads, pizza, pastas, and noodles White rice Highly processed foods of all kinds, even foods like luncheon meats, some frozen meals, and meals in a box

Very tired after a looong Super Bowl party in MA last night. That game is way too long. But luckliy the gf of the man throwing the party is a 5 year post op so there was plenty of good, healthy food for me to eat. I was able to bring some leftovers home, so I will be eating them all day. B - 1 Turkey & swiss roll up S - handful of peanuts L - chilli w/ melted swiss on top S - Peach (I haven't eaten a peach yet so it will probably be 1/2) S - protein bar D - baked chicken leg I have a 2 snacks in between lunch and dinner b/c I am going to the meeting in Hamden and will not eat untll late. My bf walked me all around NY on Saturday (in boots!) and my legs are still sore. I have to try to get some exercise in but right now I am like "ouch!" Perhaps I will just take a little low impact walk in between work and the meeting.
