Hi everyone, I just started using this website even though I had my gastric bypass this past August. I want to know if anyone experienced a slow down in weight loss in their 4th and 5th month post op. When I went for my three month visit I had lost almost 70 pounds. I just weighed myself at the Surgeons office last Friday, January 27th and only have lost an additional 10 pounds. My six month appt. is later in February, but I feel devistated that I may only loose a few more pounds. I also suffer from thyroid issues and wonder if my thyroid is causing slower weighloss. I am hoping to hear from my endocronoglist soon on that issue. If anyone has experienced slower weight loss please let me know. I would appreciate it. Thank you

Hi karen, don't be shocked if your weight loss slows down after the first three months. I consider it one of the "Traps" that we face along our journey. Aftewr seeing the pounds fly off those first three months, the slower weight loss kinda makes you feel like you are failing. Nothing can be further from the truth. Depending on how much you weighed when you started your "Journey", The slow down will settle in. The important thing is to keep on track as far as your eating and excersizing. You will face months of zero weight loss and it will drive you crazy but you will also notice that your clothes sizes will continue to get smaller. So, don't let these "traps" throw you off your goal. We all lose at different rates and the important thing is living the healthy lifestyle our "Journey" is teaching us. Take Care and Keep up the Good Work! Julio

Hey there Karen, Welcome to the Family. Hope to see you more often on the site. We are all here for you sweetie. Yes it unfortunately slows down, I am a year and a month out and I have stopped for the past few months. I know what your going through, but don't dispare everyone tells me it happens and will start up again soon. I have tried to up my protein, do more exercise and its still stays the same so far. I know there is a pot at the end of the rainbow and I will get there soon and so will you. Look at everyone's success here on the board. That is my inspiration and I know we will be there too. Keep doing the plan you were given by your surgeon, and check with them when your unsure about anything. I am due to go next month and I am going to let my surgeon know my concerns about my freeze on losing. We can help eachother, so email me anytime you would like just to talk or be eachother's support. I am feeling what your feeling. Take care sweetie, and good luck. Again Welcome to the OH Family and hope to see more of you. Hugs KimC

Hi Kim, Thank you so much for your response. I greatly appreciate it and definitely don't feel alone now. I felt a bit panicked when I didn't see a big change, but after hearing from you and Julio, I felt so much better. I know the scale may be moving slower now, but just the same it's moving in the right direction. It will soon move again for you too. I am so glad you wrote back and look forward to talking to you again. Thank you again for your support and kind words and making me feel so welcome. I look forward to hearing how you did when you see your surgeon. Take care Karen

Hey Karen- Do you work during the day? Just wondering if you are available during the week at all- we could get together at the Mall (when there isn't a teenage melee breaking out LOL) and go walking- that'll help the weight loss!!! And I am bored out here in Andover but need motivation to get moving!!! I see you are in S windsor so I figured maybe I'd try to hook up

Hi Bernadette - Yes, I do work during the day (unfortunately - LOL) or I would have loved to hook up. I try walking on my treadmill 4 to 5 times per week at 5am each morning (yuck) before the kids get up. Once I get home I am pretty tired and don't feel much like walking. When I take some time off and will be around during the day, I'll email you and maybe we can get together and walk. It's always great to walk with someone. Thanks for getting back to me. Take care and it was great meeting you. -Karen
