Hi Everyone, Well, I made it. My RNY was done on Tuesday, 1/24 and I actually was discharged yesterday. Dr Nadzam was able to do it laproscopically and said I came through with flying colors so he was "handing me my walking papers!" I guess I must heal pretty fast. I want to thank all of you who sent me your kind words, thoughts and prayers before my surgery. I can't tell you all how much that meant to me. I won't lie and say I wasn't afraid because I was scared you-know-what-less! (Hey, by the way, is it just me, or does anyone else think that Fleet Phoso-soda should come with a warning label that says "Product will bear a strong resemblance to BOILING DRAINO as it claws it's way through your intestines.") But the entire surgical and support staff at St Rafe's helped a LOT. They are VERY kind there, although understaffed. But all of them had nothing but supportive and caring words for me. Dr Nadzam was particularly terrific. An example of what a caring doctor he is: Whenever he came in to see me, if I was napping, he would lightly run his thumb over my hand until I woke, rather than jarring me awake. So, now I'm home. One of the first hurdles I had to deal with is the fact that I have 4 chihuahuas, all of whom are used to jumping up and all over Mommy's tummy when I sit in my recliner. They don't understand why I have a pillow over my tummy now and they can't have their favorite perch. I have to say the biggest problem I am having so far is not being able to have anything to drink an hour before or after my "meal". I get SO dry. So far, I don't know that I feel any major difference yet in my stomach, other than the residual pain. I'm trying to keep the amount of Tylenol and Codeine I'm using as low as possible as it makes me pretty sleepy. Well, that's my update. I know I am VERY fortunate, that I came through this with so little of the problems I have read that others here have had. I am very grateful to God for that, and again, for all of you on this amazing new journey we've chosen to take. Keep Strong All. It can only keep on getting better!

well, congratulations! I am sure your 4 little babies will nurse you right back to health! (Sounds adorable!!!) Take the pain meds as you need them, but I am sure you wont need them very long! After my surgery I didnt real any "differant" either and thought if they put me in my own bed after recovery, I would not have even known I had the surgery! (Well, that might be a bit of a stretch, but I felt that good!) I hope you have a seamless journey! Love your writing style... hope you post often! (So question, are you on a clear fluid diet right now??) Now get some rest and snuggle those 4 little babies! Sweet Mammy
