One week postop -- I think......
Had lap RNY on 1/9 without problem. Needed to stay in 2 extra days because of concern about some GI bleeding but that cleared up and I've been home now for 4 days. Spent 2 of those days mostly sleeping but am now feeling peppy and fine. Have not needed pain medicine since I've been home, only discomfort is a "sore muscle " on my left side. Have had absolutely no pouch trouble and am beginning to wonder whether my surgeon did the right operation. No nausea, vomiting, intolerance of food, pain, etc. Have mostly followed a soft diet but am craving more substance and protein. Yesterday tried a little tuna salad without problem. Would love to progress my diet some - do you think it's too early to try cottage cheese and other dairy like yogurt?
My biggest problem is working out a schedule to be sure to ge****er, meals and vitamins in. Am using liquid multi-vit, iron and calcium but find it doesn't work to take them too close together.
Anyway, I'm home, well and feeling fit. Can't wait to start some more exercise besides walking.
Thanks all for all your support.
Careful careful careful and steady as you go. Your pouch still has not real feeing, as it's healing right now. So, don't do anything outside the box of your Dr's recommendations. I don't know what Dr. Tischler recommends, per se. But, follow it to a T! Yogurt, pudding, protein shakes, broth and soups with no solids were my perscribed fare at your stage. when I was cleared for soft foods (it took a while- like 3 weeks!) I could eggs, cottage cheese, flaky fish like tuna... but not till then.
Best of luck to you! & Congrats on your surgery. I liked Dr. Tishler a lot when I met him.
