I have heard may of you say that if you don't have time for breakfast you grab a breakfast bar. What kind are some of the best and tasty? Also, how long do we have to continue to crush our meds? Thanks, Colleen

Hi Colleen, My doctor told me that as long as the pills were very small. It maight be a good idea to keep crushing them. I use liquid B-12 and Vitamen e . As far as the breakfast bars go I just grab one of my protien bars that I get from Met-RX. There are alot of different breakfast bars/ protien bars out there I have noticed alot of cupon's in the paper so just use them to buy them one at a time till you like you find something you like. Take care and good luck! Be Well, Julio

Dr Aranow said to me Friday ( I am only 2 weeks out) anything smaller than an M&M is okay to swallow whole. I didn't ask him which kind of M&M but I would assume he meant the plain normal type LOL..... As for the bars- I LOVED the Marathon Snickers Low Carb bar- peanut flavor- pre-op. Don't know if you can tolerate the texture yet. Are you going to support group Monday? I could bring you one to try.

Hey Colleen, I really like the South Beach Diet Bars. They are 140 cals, 15g carb and 10g protein. They come in Chocolate, Maple, Peanut butter and Cranberry nut. They have a cereal texture, like rice crispy bars - rather than the chocolate-caramel nougat types that you find in a lot of the other protein bars. I can't seem to tolerate the nougat type well (wish I could - they look so good. Anyway they are pretty tasty and not bad on the counts. terri

Hi Colleen. I am partial to the Atkins Morning Start bars. Only 1 g of sugar and 11 g of protein -160 calories I like the cranberry almond but they have all kinds. I usually use them as a snack or when I really do not have time for breakfast(late for work). Linnie

Hi Colleen, I don't do breakfast bars, so I can't help there... Dr Aranow says that three months on crushing the meds if they're larger than an M&M. Is it a pill that you can cut into three or four parts instead of crushing and then swallow? I did that with my meds for a bit, but now swallow whole. Paula

Hi Colleen, As with Terri, I enjoy the South Beach Bars. They have a breakfast bar which she spoke about and they also have a meal replacement bar, which is 19 grams of protein. I switch between the two. And I always stock up when either is on sale! Phyllis
