I am planning on having the lap-band soon (just 2 more pounds to lose!) and I heard that the doctors charge $300 per fill. This could get really expensive! Anyone have their fills covered by insurance? I have Anthem of CT. Thanks!

Vanessa: My fills get billed to my insurance as, I believe, office visits. And I think the amount that gets billed is $200. Bette Banded 12/03 376/158

Vanessa- just call Lois at Dr Aranow's office- she'll tell you how it works- I would assume that if the banding is covered the follow up fills are also. Anthem is pretty good- especially if you are a State employee

Hi Vanessa, My insurance is with Connecticare; they would not pay for a fill within the first 90 days of surgery as they regard it as another separate bariatric procedure. Other insurance companies see the fills as an adjunct to the surgery (which it certainly is, in my banded opinion!) as AGB does not work optimally until you have some restriction. I felt the $300 my fill cost was the best $$s I'd spent in a while! Good luck with your journey. I love my band!!! Mary
