Hi, All! The 2nd annual WLS Spring Gala will be held on Sat., Mar. 4th, from 7 p.m. till midnight. This is a fundraiser for A.S.B.S., just like the Walk from Obesity which is held annually in Sept. Once again this year the dance will be at Il Monticello (on the Meriden-Wallingford line). For $20 per person, we get a DJ and bountiful hors d'oeuvres. There'll be enough variety (including high-protein selections) and quantity to be dinner, even for non-ops. There'll be a cash bar and, like last year, there'll be non-carbonated, non-caffeinated, non-alcoholic, low-calorie choices (besides water) for those who want them. Last year we had a pretty good turnout from this board; hopefully even more will come this year. Please tell your friends, too. Tickets will be available at some of the support group meetings in the area and I also have tickets for sale. If you're interested, let me know and we'll figure out whether you should mail me a check or if we might be seeing each other at a meeting. Debby

Thanks for posting this Debby. I also have tickets - so feel free to can contact me as well, or grab me at a support group mtg. I'm hoping for a great turnout!!! This is our first official fund raiser for the 2006 Walk from Obesity. It's a great event to bring your friends and family and just enjoy a night out!!! Hope to see you there! Hugs, Carla

Hi, Dorota! There's no specific dress code other than no jeans. At last year's dance, men wore anything from a button-down shirt with no tie or jacket, to a suit and tie, and everything in between. The women mostly wore either dresses or slacks with dressy tops. In general, everyone looked nice and most were dressed up. Debby P.S. I'm going to be wearing black slacks and a black top with white circles that has long sheer sleeves and a draped, somewhat open neckline that shows off my now-apparent collarbone while making "the girls" appear a little larger than the little things they really are now. I bought the top about 6 mos. ago at an end-of-season clearance sale. It was too small then, but I thought it would be perfect for the dance and at $7 was too good a deal to pass up!
