Tummy Tuck questions

Happy New Year Everyone! I'm down 110lbs..whoot whoot! I'd like to lose another 10 and hopefully maintain at 160 lbs. Anything under 160, & I believe I'll start looking "sickly". My extra skin is starting to become more "flabby" and loosy goosy in my tummy area. For those of you who have completed your WL when/how long did you wait before going in for cosmetic surgery? It's all around my lower ab section & is loose across the lower back/hips & top of my thighs as well. For those of you who have Dr. Barba does he do the the surgery or does he recommend someone for you? I doubt if my insurance will cover the tummy tuck/skin removal. I'm not having any side effects with rashes or anything...(thank God!) just more self conscious..than anything. More than likely this will have to come out of pocket...any ideas of how much a tummy tuck will cost? Thanks everyone for your input. A new year & a new me! Mickey

Hi Michelle! Dr. Barba's fee for the abdominalplasty is $1500. I'm not sure what the hospital charges, you would have to call them directly. Call 714-4000 and ask for patient financial and they can give you the hospital and ana. fees. BUT, with that said, Dr. Barba (most plastic surgeons and the insurance companies) feel that you should wait until you are at least 18 months post op. Personally, I will tell you that my skin is very different from what it was at 6 months, 18 months and even 2 yrs post op. If you want to talk about it, please give me a call at the office. Jessica

Hi Jessica, It's nice to hear from you stranger! I figured it would be close to 2 years before the tummy surgery. His pricing is not what I expected it's cheaper...I figured 5 grand easily. He's awesome & really helped me work out my $$$ situation when I had to pay out of pocket for my WLS. I'll hold off on looking into the surgery until my 1 year check up in April and go from there. You are the best, Mickey
