LEGISLATIVE EFFORTS
Has anyone heard of any efforts being made in the esteemed Connecticut General Assembly to compel insurers to cover bariatric surgery? Over the summer, ObesityHelp had pledged to monitor some legislative attempts that were being discussed, but to date, I haven't found any postings. As many of you might recall from last year's ill-fated efforts, the hearing on the bill that was finally before the Insurance and Real Estate Committee was not well publicized and the measure died in committee among a sea of mis-information about the alleged risks and "experimental nature" of bariatric surgery.
We have a large group through Norwalk Hospital who are very eager to lobby their legislators on this matter, so any advance notice would be greatly appreciated.
Hey Steve,
I have written to all our representatives and the only one that was kind enough to answer me was Gayle Shlossberg. I have seen her a couple of times here at the Orange Community Center for government events and I thanked her personally for acknowledging me. She said they are in the process of presenting all the facts and voting on it.
Have not heard yet when, where and if it was done. Should get everyone together again to email all the reps to find out whats going on for our OH Family.
Hugs
