I Lost My Sister
Hi, All!
Don't be alarmed; my sister's fine and I know where she is. But when I added up all of the inches I've lost in various parts of my body in this year since surgery it totalled over 60 inches. And I've lost 100 lbs. since the 1st time I saw Dr. Aranow in Oct. 2004, but compared to my highest weight about 2 years earlier I've lost over 126 lbs. My sister is 5 ft. tall (60 inches) and weighs about 120 lbs., so I've lost my sister! To me that's an amazing visual aid...to think that I've lost the equivalent of an adult...a short one, but nevertheless an adult.
But this year hasn't just been about loss...of inches, pounds, numbers in front of an "X" on a clothing label, a marriage... It's also been about gains...of supportive friends (both on and off this board), things I can do (or do better or more easily) than I could a year ago, a healthier life, possibilities for the future...
I am so grateful for this "tool" that Dr. Aranow gave me. (To be honest, he didn't really "give" it to me, Healthnet "bought" it for me.) Without it I wouldn't be where I am now.
