With a nod to 'High Fidelity' and John Cusack's Top 5 music lists... I was just thinking to myself on my drive to work today about all the holiday music that is playing without stop in the radio, and what I might actually want to hear. Top 5 Christmas music cd's/songs 1) Charlie Brown Christmas sountrack (good jazz/blues stuff) 2) 'We wish you a Hairy Christmas'- by various 80's heavy metal artists 3) 'Merry Christmas' - by The Waitressess (not so well-known 80's band)4) Miles Davis (pretty much anything) 5) Tchaikovsky nutcracker suite Unfortunately I don't own any of it. O Holy Night by Mariah Carey 4. Santa Baby by Eartha Kitt 5. Do they know its Christmas by like George Michael and all those 80's guys Honorable Mentions given to ... Christmas in Hollis by Run-DMC

And, just for the heck of it, here are my top five, and some of the reasoning: NUMBER FIVE: (tie) "Hark, the Herald Angels Sing"/"God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen"/"Silent Night"/"Mary's Boy Child" I couldn't possibly make up a Top Christmas Songs list and leave out all the Christmas carols. But I found it impossible to pick just one. I spent far too many of my formative years singing in school chorus, church choir and youth group carolers to narrow the list down to one. NUMBER FOUR: "Happy Xmas War is Over", (preferred version by Jimmy Buffett) NUMBER THREE: "We Need a Little Christmas", Johnny Mathis NUMBER TWO: "Linus and Lucy", Vince Guaraldi Which brings me to . . . NUMBER ONE: "Some Day at Christmas", Stevie Wonder. Why? Here's why: Someday at Christmas men won't be boys Playing with bombs like kids play with toys One warm December our hearts will see A world where men are free Someday at Christmas there'll be no wars When we have learned what Christmas is for When we have found what life's really worth There'll be peace on earth Someday all our dreams will come to be Someday in a world where men are free Maybe not in time for you and me But someday at Christmastime Someday at Christmas we'll see a land with no hungry children, no empty hands One happy morning people will share a world where people care Someday at Christmas there'll be no tears All men are equal and no man has fears One shining moment, one prayer away From our world today Someday all our dreams will come to be Someday in a world where men are free Maybe not in time for you and me But someday at Christmastime Someday at Christmas man will not fail hate would be gone and love will prevail Someday a new world that we can start With hope in every heart Someday all our dreams will come to be Someday in a world where men are free Maybe not in time for you and me But someday at Christmastime Someday at Christmastime And that, as Linus once said, "Is what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown."

Do you think Santa will bring me John Cusack for Christmas. My top 5: 1. O Holy Night 2. O Come O Ye Faithful/Little Drummer Boy/Silent Night/ The First Noel (all tied for 2nd) 3. Santa Baby (Eartha Kitt) 4. Baby It's Cold Outside (okay, not really Christmas...but love the song) 5. Recently, Mariah Carey's All I Want for Christmas is You...great song to belt out while driving in traffic or on the way to the mall!) Debbi

Debbi, When I think of people worshipping "J.C.", it usually isn't John Cusack... I think he would put up a fight when Santa tried to drag him down your chimney, but other than that, you have a good chance. Leave some cookies out and hope for the best. Top 5 Favorite JC movies (for me, anyways)... 1) Say Anything (Ione Skye helps a lot w/ this one) 2) Being John Malkovich (own it) 3) Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil (own it) 4) The Sure Thing 5) Better off Dead Dave

I'm a huge "Messiah" fan, so you can pretty much take anything from the entire arrangement, and I'm happy. On a more present note, I just heard this song on the radio by the Goo Goo Dolls, and it really hit home: BETTER DAYS And you ask me what I want this year And I try to make this kind and clear Just the chance that maybe we'll find better days Cuz I don't need boxes wrapped in strings And designer love and empty things Just the chance that maybe we'll find better days So take these words And sing out loud Cuz everyone is forgiven now Cuz tonight's the night the world begins again I need someplace simple where we could live And something only you can give And that's faith and trust and peace while we're alive And the one poor child who saved this world And there's ten million more who probably could If we all just stopped and said a prayer for them So take these words And sing out loud Cuz everyone is forgiven now Cuz tonight's the night the world begins again I wish everyone was loved tonight And somehow stop this endless fight Just the chance that maybe we'll find better days So take these words And sing out loud Cuz everyone is forgiven now Cuz tonight's the night the world begins again Cuz tonight's the night the world begins again Happy Holidays All, Love, Tammy

Okay I agree with Bethany, I would love to have John Cusack in my stocking, but my husband may get upset. My top 5 are: (1) Rocking around the Christmas Tree (2) Silent Night (3) Must be Santa (4) Frosty the Snowman (5) Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer I love the song Dominic the Christmas Donkey and the Rusty Chevrolet Songs too. Also there is one out after my old town I grew up in called "Staven" (East Haven). These are hysterical. I absolutely love Christmas, the decorations, the spirit, the music and of course the giving and sharing with eachother. Its a very wonderful time of the year to celebrate life, have fun and love eachother. Happy Holidays everyone. Hugs KimC
