Mon. Night Support Group Meetings
Hi, All!
This coming Mon. night, Dec. 19th, is the 3rd Mon. of the month, so there are support group meetings in both Hamden and Middletown. The Hamden group (which meets at the Senior Center, behind the Miller Library on Dixwell Ave.) isn't affiliated with any doctor or hospital. It's run by a couple of post-ops and is open to all pre- and post-ops. The meetings are from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and consist of general discussion, questions and answers and sometimes a presentation by a post-op about his/her experiences. Once in a while there's a guest speaker.
The Middletown meeting (at Middlesex Hospital from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.) is primarily for patients of Dr. Aranow, but anyone may attend. The meeting this coming Mon. is for both pre- and post-ops and will consist of general discussion, questions and answers.
I'll be at the Middletown meeting. Who else is going? Who wants to join us for dinner after? Dinner isn't just for post-ops; pre-ops are welcome. And if you'd rather eat before the meeting, you can just have something to drink. The restaurants we go to don't mind. The point of going out isn't the food, it's the friendship...the additional support...the chance to get to know each better... And for pre-ops, it's a chance to see how post-ops handle eating out at different lengths of time after surgery. As a pre-op, it helped me to see that life after surgery could still be "normal", albeit a new version of normal.
If you need directions to either meeting, please e-mail me.
Have a good weekend,
Debby
