Hello Alisha Welcome to the OH CT family, as you can see everyone here is so supportive and wonderful. I am too far so I can not recommend my surgery group. They are out of St Raphaels Hospital in New Haven CT and are fantastic. Anyway I wish you all the luck in the world on your relocation back to CT and to your future with the wls in CT. As you will see everyone here on the board is like one big family. Like Joanie said and Lisa said try Dr. Aaranow's group, he has a great reputation here in CT and he is a sweetheat, I met him at our walk this summer and was so impressed. Take care and hopefully we will all have a chance to meet you when your settled in. Good luck to you and your husband. Hugs KimC

RNY on 12/28/05 with
Hey Alisha- I can help you with a few ideas on jobs- I am a RN- and have worked psych- now I do homecare with Hartford VNA. I have a good friend/ colleague that I used to work with and now for the past 5 years she has worked for the State Mental Health- in Norwich - and I bet you you'd be able to find a position there- the Insurance benefits would be worthwhile given your desire to look into Plastic surgery later on. The State of Ct employees get great insurance. My sister tries to tell me to come back to State service (she is a psych APRN ) just to get the coverage for my upcoming RNY. (my ins thru hubby may deny me) I don't have to repeat whats been said- Dr Aranow is by far the best choice-for a surgical follow up- I can honestly tell you that as a RN. I'm not employed by him- so there's bias involved- just the results of research. As far as plastics goes- I know Babigian in Hartford is great. I find him to be a very conscientious doc when I need to call him on a patient. Good luck with your future move. You will be glad to be back East I am sure- there are no earthquakes, wildfires and mudslides here to speak of LOL!!!!!

RNY on 02/06/06 with
Hello Alisha! I just wanted to say welcome. I have not had my RNY yet, but I am a patient of Dr. Aranow's. I have to say that so far I am very impressed by his program and am very excited about having surgery w/him on 1/9/06. Though I have gone to the Middletown support group meetings, I have heard good things about both of the others that are closer to home. I live in Gales Ferry, and am planning on attending one of the closer ones as a post-op. Anyway, welcome and good luck on your move, and finding a job and house. Happy Holidays! -Pat W.

Hey I'm married (at the moment) to a Navy man and Tricare will send you to Dr.Bell in New Haven. I have heard great things about him. He's performed the surgery on a lot of wives that I know here.

I believe Dr. Bell out of New Haven runs two support groups...one in new Haven and one in New London. The New London support group would be perfect for you. Dr. Bell is an amazing surgeon and not bad to look at either....LOL!

Hi Alisha, Welcome back to good ole" Connecticut. I know you know what you are looking for in a doctor. I just wanted to tell you that I searched all over Conn. until I found the doctor for me. Dr.Carlos Barba out of Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford is the most caring Doctor I have ever met. He doesn't pull any punches, but explains everything and answers your questions so you can understand them. He carries a smile everywhere. His office personel and co-workers are just as wonderful. He has been my knight in shining armor. He has a support group that meets the last Tuesday of the month at Saint Franscis. These meetings are great. Not only are they for post op but pre op as well. I have learned so much from them and enjoy them greatly. I hope you can stop in and say "HI". I know you would be welcomed with open arms. Good Luck with the relocation. Sarah
