Requiem for a Life: "What I miss..."
WOW what a great question!
I miss:
WARMTH...DITTO! I walk around with socks on & wear them to bed...my hands are like ice! I used to be the "heater" before surgery.
Eating without having to "worry" about carbs/calories/protein. I've become a little "obsessive compulsive". I can eat more now....so of course that is sending me over the top and in a panic!
I miss cheeseburgers...Hamburger makes me throw up.
Breads I'm avoiding...haven't touched any since the surgery. Miss it when we go out to eat.
PASTA...sigh....Angelino's in Vernon used to be my favorite..
Sweets were my "trigger", I haven't had any in over a year...to prepare myself for surgery. I do miss a homemade brownie with a big glass of milk....Chugging a diet Dr. Pepper or Diet Pepsi....SIGH....haven't had any since surgery...
MY HAIR! I chopped it off due to the fall out & brittleness I miss my "covering".
My boobs are also a thing of the past...my husband misses them more than I do! LOL
I also am in "mourning" over Lane Bryant & Avenue....they had pretty clothes...Isn't that weird? My goal was to get out of plus sizes and now that I am....I want the clothes???? I'm a wacko!
Not worrying about foods that may make me barf...being able to eat whatever...whenever...
I wouldn't change anything though....I feel so much better & lighter....
I'm down 110lbs...and I'm in size 12's and large tops.... Everyday I remind myself why I did this surgery....for my health...I do my best to keep "food" in perspective....it's energy only....what I put in...is what will come out....garbage in...garbage out...my MONTRA..LOL..
Of course there are days where I wish I could "shut off my pouch" for a grinder or a sinful dessert...but don't we all. I haven't had any dumping yet...and hopefully won't "tempt" myself into trying a sweet "just to see". I'm playing it safe & treating sugar like a severe allergy. (I have a life threatening alergy to peanuts so I treat sugar the same way..) So far it works for me...LOL...
Happy Holidays to you all....
Mickey
Okay ladies- I know without the thermal layer of adipose you have lost there is increased body heat loss and less insulation against the cold, but I have to say- I don't think its just the weight loss- it's frickin Polar cold out there- and I still have my protective polar bear layer of blubber.
Conversely- wasn't the summer heat easier to take? I know one more summer of 90 plus and I am gonna keel over. I think that the summer heat fat is worse than winter cold thin - I'll check back in a year to give you my updated opinion on the matter- but my supposition is the summer will be more tolerable and I can always put another layer on in the winter. Right now I am trying to head this chest cold off at the pass- all I need is for this to turn into a bronchitis 2 weeks before surgery.
I should have quarantined myself from the little germ factories I have here- especially the one in Kindergarten those kids take the principals of sharing to a whole new level with viruses. Wonder if I can just spritz the kids with Lysol as they get off the bus in the afternoon......
