Requiem for a Life: "What I miss..."

Let me state from the outset that I wouldn't change my WLS for the world, and God knows that the good infinitely outweighs the bad, but today while standing in line at Dunkin' Donuts, I was struck with a case of "What I Miss". Here are a few of mine. Please feel free to jump in with yours. What I Miss (in no particular order): -Being warm -Ordering whatever I want in a restaurant and not having to think about it -Starting my day with a salsa bagel slathered with cream cheese -Being warm -Cracking open an ice-cold Coke and chugging it down -My boobs -Burgers (still can't eat 'em) -Pizza, grilled cheese, French onion soup and anything with melted cheese -Subway sandwiches -Did I mention being warm?

Me too! No serious complaints but... -warmth, please God some warmth! - the complete peace and calm that I used to have after eating Chinese takeout - somedays, honestly, I wish that I were 350 lbs again so that co-workers wouldn't go "Oh my gosh, you are just melting away!" Being invisble had its advantages. - yep, boobs. I'm hardly flat chested but I looked like I was smuggling 6 year olds under my shirt before and its a bit weird to get used to the deflated balls of skin I have now. - I miss the carefree way that I was fat. I never gave a hoot about my size until recently so I miss never thinking about diet and exercise. Now I await the firing squad if I eat a piece of cake on my birthday. But goodness knows, I would do the surgery again in a heartbeat!

McDonalds. Fries - and greasy 1/4 pounders. And I haven't even had the surgery yet. (but I have lost 30 pounds on South Beach pre-op) BTW- I read your profile- 1st- you have done awesome. You should be very proud of yourself. 2nd- you are a hoot-I laughed, I cried. I took the "what swear word are you?" quiz....

>> being warm Yep. Before surgery, I was always hot. Now, I wear a sweater in the house and I'm always chilly. I never owned a sweater before surgery. I have a SF hot chocolate every night, and sometimes wear a coat in the house with the thermostat at 68. I often wear a warm hoodie underneath my coat when I go out. Strange. --Steve

Ah, warmth!!! Coming from someone that DIDN'T EVER wear a winter coat and it blew everyone's mind!!! I was always hot and sweating. NOW, I'm freezing...all the time...I had to buy socks (I didn't own any) and wear them all the time now. I have to go out and buy some long sleeved shirts that fit because all of the tops I own are short sleeved...even my winter sweaters...Hated sleeves before. I'm down 70 pounds already, so, I'm happy with how everything is going. I'm not complaining. I do miss my all veggie pizza and the house fried rice at my favorite Chinese restaurant and the occassional chocolate chip cookie (they make me dump, thank GOD)...I do miss my diet pepsi... I too a sneak sip a couple of times from hubby's one day...it was enough. Other than that, I'm not craving much else. Happy Holidays all! paula

Hey Bette, WARMTH!!!!!!!!!! Boy I forgot what that felt like, I am always freezing now, have to wear alot of layers. No more sweating bullets and getting heated up going from store to car, work to car. I am always so cold now. What a difference. I would have this surgery all over again in a heartbeat. Now I am just wearing alot more sweatshirts, sweaters, and very heavy socks. FLANNEL SHEETS!!! Who would of thought this a year ago, I had the fan going and no coat too. Love you all KimC

CAN YOU SAY DUMP CITY?? I KNOW NOW THAT DUMPING IS NO FUN, HEARD ABOUT IT BUT IT TOOK A YEAR OUT TO GO THROUGH IT FOR REAL. I AM OVERJOYED WITH THE SURGERY NOW THE PS HAS TO COME FOR ME TO BE COMPLETE. BUT I AM SO TIRED OF BEING COLD!! BLKNECTAR

AHHH,Warmth, I miss being warm as well..And I too miss my boobs..The girls are not what they used to be...I miss mashed potatos...I do eat a little bit of potatoes now, but the couple of tablespoons does not compare to the small mountain slathered in gravy I used to enjoy...I also miss eating without having to worry about the protein first...I am a bit sick of meat...I miss some of my favorite clothes, and I miss shopping at Lane Bryant...I still go in sometimes, but I have really outgrown them....A good thing, but I do like their styles...I would do it all again in a heartbeat and I am soooooooo happy with my results, but I do miss some things...I also miss my former "best friend" (food).... Love, Dorota

Great post Bette! Ditto on almost everything, especially warmth, but as you all, wouldn't change it for the world! Have a great day! Phyllis
