Thoughts of Pilates Anyone??

I used to be very devoted to the gym until it got cold, at which point all thoughts of going to the gym went right out of the window. I take the bus so I refuse to stand in the cold any more than I need to. So I bought a DVD player and a pilates tape. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I am definately getting leaner, I can fit into some 12's now. But I am not losing that much in the way of weight. Also, sometimes I get all sore afterward. I guess my question is, has anyone else tried pilates and if so what did you think of it. Also, apparently you aren't supposed to do any streching type excercises during "that time of the month" for some reason that they never explained, so does can anyone suggest any other sort of exercise tape? I look at the fitness selection at Walmart and just feel overwhelmed. Thanks and Happy Holidays guys!!! p.s. I live in an apartment so I can't do anything that requires jumping and stomping around, my neighbors wouldn't appreciate it. I also don't own any equipment such as weights or treadmills at home, for the same reason. Well weights are quiet but, you know....

Hi You can ask Tammy L this question and she is personal trainer and knows all kind of exercise which she can help to show you how to do it in your apt without making alot of nosie. If you can kick yourself to do exercise alone then great! Some people need Buddy to keep them to stick exercise. I have fear inside me which make me to keep exercise everyday except sundays. Happy Holidays! Hugs Kathy k

Hi there! I'm a big fan of pilates. It strengthens your "core" and helps with toning and conditioning. If you add 30 minutes of cardio to that, then you'd really see more improvements with the fat burn. The combination of the two is really wonderful. Good luck with it - and congrats on trying something new and successful!!! Email me with any questions, I'm happy to help! Tammy

Hi Christine, I am a very devoted fan of Pilates and do it 2x per week along with my cardio and weights. I feel as though I am becoming more flexible as time goes by and I find it very relaxing especially after an intense cardio workout! When I first started, I wasn't sure if I liked it or not, but now, I can't do without it! Sandy
