This is my first post (so I'm a little nervous). I just received my "final" OK from Lois this morning - my surgery date is now set in stone - December 16th. I'm both nervous and excited at the same time. Any words of wisdom? Unfortunately I won't be able to attend this Monday evening's support meeting at Middlesex so I'm looking for some on-line support. I have been lurking for several months now and you have been my strength and support through this process so far. Thanks for you help. - Jacqui

Hello Jacqui, Congratulations on your surgery date. You will do fine, if you need any support this is the right place to be. There are alot of compasionate and caring people on this board. Sometimes they are busy with their own lives but they always try their best to help in anyway they can. Take a deep breath, relax and don't be nervous. Your in good hands with Dr. A. I have alot of my OH friends that had him as their surgeon and they are all doing fantastic. Welcome to the Family and God Bless. Hugs KimC

Hi jacqui, Wishing you all the best for your surgery. Hang in there and you'll do fine. Remember to walk a lot after surgery and you'll heal well. The most important thing once you're home is to get at least 65 gms of protein in a day for proper staple line healing. You'll get this in by drinking shakes and having different liquid items. Try to go to the "pre op" class held every other Wednesday (if they're having one next week) at the hospital, it's very informative. Just post here or email me if you have any questions. I'm only out since 9/28, but try to offer help when needed. paula

Go for it!!!!! Believe me, it is not bad and the results will be amazing. I wish that I could start and have the surgery again (smile). It is not painful as one might think, but we all have different tolerences. I for one had nothing and walked the second day until I was tired. The only thing that I observed is how fixated the world is on food. Every commerical,, but for the first 5 weeks of no solid food and no chewing of anything that is the hardest part. You are on your way to a magnificent life , and remember that the surgery is a tool and you have to do a lot of the work. The support groups are wonderful and you will find them helpful when you get out of the hosptial. Be nervous its okay, things will be well with you. Good luck on your journey!! BlkNectar
