I had my surgery last Monday and bought the Flintstones Complete vitamins. Tried them and they are SO gritty and too sweet. Gag me! So I bought the Adult Centrum chewables - yuck again. They are the same, just one flavor. Does anyone know of a vitamin in liquid form, or small pill form that can be taken post-op? Thanks for your help! Nancy

Hi Nancy, Sorry that you are having a hard time with the vitamins. I am using the Flinstones and just gagging my way threw them. Sorry I am not much help How are you feeling? Are you able to sleep in bed yet? How are you doing with the shakes? I found that there is a split pea soup that is 9 grams of protein per 1/2 cup. I have been cooking it with ham in it and then straining the ham out. Only cooking with the ham to give it flavor. It has been a life savor. I can't wait to have something I can chew. I hope your doing well. Good luck with the vitamins. Hugs, Chrissy

After surgery I was taking the viactive chocolate multivitamin chews. Taste great. I also take the CVS brand calcium chocolate chews. I have started taking the CVS brand chewable multivitamin along with my daily liquid b-12 and vitamin e. They all taste good to me. Good Luck and keep up the great work! Be Well, Julio

Hi Nancy, Sorry that you're having a hard time with the taste of the chewables. I'm taking the CVS brand of the Centrum Chewables. They are called Spectrovite and I just pop one in my mouth and kind of let it melt down a bit then chew it up and it's gone. There are some things in my life that I have to kind of get through. There are liquid multivitamins online that you can do a search for, but I've heard both positives and negatives because they usually taste so bad. If you've not read the latest newsletter from Middlesex and Dr Aranow, he and Elina have now decided that they want all patients to only take Calcium Citrate as their form of calcium (you won't start calcium until stage 5) and Viactiv and those chewable ones are OUT. They are citrate and will not absorb in your pouch. They need gastric acid to break down. I had to buy online a liquid Calcium Citrate because the Twinlab chewable calcium citrate tabs were SO huge there was NO way I could chew 5 of them a day. The liquid is thick and tastes like a tart yogurt. You only take one tablespoon though. I can tolerate that! It's Tropical Oasis brand. Can you crush the Centrum chewables up and add them to yogurt or something? I thought the Flintstones tasted worse than the Centrum/Spectrovite. Remember, with pills, for the first three months, nothing bigger than an M&M can be taken whole by mouth. It must be crushed or chewed. (As per Dr Aranow) Hope you're feeling well and healing well...make sure you're getting in your 65 gms of protein a day...that's the first thing Dr A will ask you at your first visit...It's essential to heal those staple lines! paula

I am taking the Rite Aid Brand of Children's Chewable vitamins with iron. I don't find them too bad, I don't know if they taste like the flinstone vitamins or not. But I buy all of them on drugstore.com You might want to check it out and see what they have in liquids. Jennifer
