Any Bandsters in CT?
When I moved back to CT, I had a checkup with my PCP to update her on my changes. (She is fabulous BTW. Over the years, she has provided outstanding care.) She said she would follow my case closely b/c all her WLS patients had gastric bypass.
1. Is there a Dr. in the Hartford area doing lap bands? Is he/she good? Although Dr. Ren and Fielding have been great, I am nervous about not having a local doctor available for an emergency.
2. Are there many bandsters in my area? I feel like I am missing out b/c I cannot attend the various support groups my surgeons office offers.
Hi Brad,
I am a bandster , 7 months out. My surgeon is Dr. Jonathon Aranow, from Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. He is the best( in my opinion) in the local area. His support group meetings are for anybody, not only his patients, so you would be welcome. Granted, most of the attendees are RNY patients, but the number of Bandsters is constantly growing.I am very happy with the care I have received from him, and highly recommend him.Feel free to email me for any information.

Hi Bette,
I would love to talk to you. I have so many issues because of my weight and I want to be a Bandster. The thing is I don't know how to get started. Not sure who would be a good doctor. I just want to know from someone who would know first hand from start to finish how hard and long is this gonna be? Please Write Back...Til then
Stay Blessed,
Tia
I am not sure what you meant. Did you need to find a doctor? I had my surgery in NYC at NYU. From what I could tell, Drs Ren and Fielding are among the leaders in the field. The pre-op stuff they put me through was very detailed. Pschye eval - pre-op with PCP - etc. They make you stay overnight. From what I could tell from other experiences, they are both on the conservative end of the spectrum. Only problem - very expensive.
