AGAIN WITH THE FAT SUITS

Hey all, I don't know if this upset anyone, but it made me sad. These skinny minny reporters and models are putting on these suits and trying to understand what we are all going through. I was alittle disturbed by what I saw. First one of our top models did it and now a hollywood news show on television did it. What do they think they are accomplishing by doing this. Its not helping us, it just makes people more negative about the subject of obesity. Society just does not understand. I am just alittle sad about all of this and had to share my feelings with my OH family. I know they think they are trying to help, but I don't know. I have mixed feelings about it. The report seemed very sincere and she really stated how upset she was on how people treat obese people, but does she really understand what we have all gone through, physically, emotionally and pubically. I hope and pray this helps us and does not make it worse for us. Thanks for listening everyone. Love ya all. Hugs KimC

I hope this will make you at least a little happier. As several on the board know, I have been a tall SMO elf that wears fur and makeup for over 13 years. I make a great one too if I must say myself. Anyway.... since surgery, it has been just a wee bit difficult to have the girth necessary to make kids and parents "believe", in spite of the real beard and the most realistic laugh, Ho-Ho-Ho, and Merry Christmas you have ever heard. So what is the answer. You've got it! One one, but 2 fat suits! Yes, not custom made, so I ended up with 2 of them. The thought of the suit make make you sad, but believe me, when you look into the eyes of a child who KNOWS you ARE Santa, there is no greater gift. Peter

I don't understand how producers can think that this passes as entertainment. And what's the point: to prove that life can suck for a fat person? DUH! The people who care already know and the ones who don't will NEVER care. I'm waiting for the day when they send white people out in black face (or any other color) to try to prove that life as a minority can be difficult. Or, the day they send someone out blinded, deafened, with braces on their legs, or in a wheelchair and see how that goes. Oh, right! THAT program would never happen, because there'd be a big stink.

This is a little off the topic, but I was really offended on Halloween when a young girl came to the door in a "blow up fat suit"...She was a female obese ballerina. It was a suit that had a "blower" in it like the yard decorations you plug in and the blower keeps them up. I thought it was offensive and not fun at all. She wasn't doing it to prove a point that obese people are discriminated against...She was wearing it to poke fun at obese people and to be out and having a great time collecting candy. Ignorant, I think. Paula

Hi Kimmie, I just got my computer back after not having it for almost 2 weeks ( Stacey & Tommy took it home with them so Tommy could fix it) But now that I have it back and have been able to read the chats once again, I just wanted to tell you how wonderful you look, I really like the new picture you have put up, it looks great. Keep up the good work. Rain

I want to see what the response would be if a white reporter dressed up like a black person to "find out what discrimination is like" Or how about if a straight reporter "acted gay" to see what the response is - would the public be fine with this? WOuld the reporter be called brave and heroic? I think not- so what makes it okay for this type of sensationalism? And anyway- according to the numbers the majority of Americans know what its like to be obese because they ARE. Duhhh.... Chalk it up to "you know its a slow news day when...." I only saw one snippit of one story- where the "fake fattie" asked some passerby to help her with her shoe becasue she couldn 't reach to put it back on (like uhhh who put it on you this morning?) Oh yeah- like we do that alllllll the time....how distasteful can you get???? GRRRRRRRRRRRR :<
