Hi Jannie, Thanks for your encouragement and for being a personal cheer leader. Thanks for the reminder about the surgical value of treating, if not totally removing co-morbidities, of which I have a few. And as far as your final comment "lean on the support group;" I'M LEANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNING! Ken

Hi Ken, I've often wondered where you ran off to! Please try to find some peace in all of these decisions and remember, "They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their faith..." Your day for surgery will come and you'll so appreciate it. I know I do. Keep your chin up, and get back to the gym and start off slow.... Hang in there. paula

Thank you, I'm back on track as of yesterday. I had my first sensible protein and calorie conscious meals yesterday after weeks of nibbling, and searching out my favorite goodies (especially Ben & Jerry's and Maggie Moo's ice creams). So, I've uninvited Ben & Jerry and Maggie Moo, and told them they are no longer welcome. Today though I had a tough time eating my oatmeal with cinnamon (unfortunately, I usually put so much sugar in it that it begins to taste like syrup - - sorry) so I listened to someone who said try it with splenda. I did, and although it is 3 hours later, I have not been able to get that horrible chemical taste out of my mouth. So I may have to swear off oatmeal too. This is not going to be easy or fun. as for the gym, I'll get there soon, I'm still having muscular problems that include periodic spasms, so I don't want to aggravate them and cause them to retaliate against me Peace, Ken

This is my first post, and I hope I am doing it correctly. Somewhere I thought I read that you used Splenda, and did not like the chemical taste. I am post-op and had Dr. A. I have recently discovered a most wonderful non-artificial non-chemical sweetener, which is made from a naturally sweet plant. It is called "Stevia". Some regular grocery stores are carrying it, like Stop and Shop. It has no chemical aftertaste, since it is not a chemical. I have bought it at Health Food Stores, and I get the "Stevia Plus", which has inulin, which adds a natural fiber. I was amazed to find how well this natural sweetener works. You can look it up on the Internet to find out more about it. Meanwhile, hang in there. Like some of the other folks wrote, if you have a down day or a down meal, just look up with the next, and take that next step. I will say a prayer for you. We can all get through the holidays, and if we err one time we can make it right the next day or the next meal. Every meal and every day is a new opportunity to get back on the path. Best wishes to you.
