The news just had a story that Middlesex Hospital and BCBS have come to an agreement and they will still be taking the insurance.

Not to worry about your surgery being covered if you are approved!

Great news, Paula!  Thanks for the update.  I'm not sure how I missed the story, but I was definitely concerned.  Yje agreement was the big topic of discussion at our recent LapBand support meeting.  Hope all is well with you and that you enjoyed the incredible weekend!

I havent been following this as i have Connecticare, however this makes me beleive that there is something "wrong" with middlesex. Even though they are an in network provider for CTcare i have been told twice by middlesex that they are not approved for specific labs with CTcare. I dont know if it is just the professional provider they are contracted with, or the lab itself? The first was being that i live in middletown and work in hartford i was planning on getting my sleep study done at middlesex but ended up getting it done at HH instead for that reason. I forget what the second lab was, but from that point on i just did everything at HH.

I don't think it's a problem with the hospital itself...it's the insurance companies refusing to pay what the hospital wants for services....thus, beginning a battle back and forth for agreements.  This is what happened with the BCBS issue.  In this day and age of insurance company bullying the every day person and having the upper hand with the professionals (doctors, hospitals, labs)...it's wrong.

Every hospital comes to an agreement with each insurance company of how much will be paid for each service (hench, the preferred provider/in network issue)

It's time we all stood up and said we're not gonna let them bully us anymore, especially since we're paying so much for our insurances.

By wrong, i mean that there is something going on with the administration, it just seems to be odd that they are making waves to the point where 2 major insurance companies in CT are close to saying they will not do business with them. Just a gut feeling that i have. It could be that they are standing up to being bullied by the insurance companies, or it could be a sign of the financial times that most businesses are in today.

Every hospital is going through it.  I just heard that Bristol Hospital had a problem with a few of them...it's a test of wills between the two entities...

I'm just glad that I'm over it...except for plastics...which I don't ever see in my horizon, cause it's just too damm expensive.

It happens everywhere. Just a few years ago BCBS did it to a hospital in Dayton. My Grandma had to change insurance companies cause she wasn't going to another hopital cause this was the closest. It's just a battle of wills.

I shall now be know as Hagatha: Queen of the queens.
