Medical Conditions
Is anyone aware of any medical conditions that may prevent someone from being approved for surgery? I still have two appt's (cardiology/pulmonary) and i'm hoping that symptons I have will still get me approved. Nothing serious that i'm aware of, just the usual shortness of breath during excercise, headaches, bone aches, etc. I'm starting to get nervous about not being a candidate.

Some surgeons tend to limit their risks and will have different co-morbidities and weight limits that will serve to disqualify someone from their program. If you fall into that category, there are some surgeons in CT who have extensive experience in higher-risk candidates (like Dr. Ralph Crum at Norwalk Hospital, who is a trained trauma surgeon). But, the important thing to keep in mind is to be honest with all the specialists who will evaluate you because protocols exist to minimize the risk of most co-morbidities provided your surgical team has complete knowledge about them.
If anything that will help with the decision makeing for the surgery. I had CHF and a mild heart attack and that is why I was approved. I did not have the 100 pound of weight gain, I had a BMI in the mid 30's. My heart and diabetes were the orecipitating facot for me haveing the sureger. In answer to your question, I would believe that it waoul help and after the sugery, I have never felt better and I have no shortness of breath and I have more energy than I ever knew. Also I am over 50.
Your heart need the rest and this surgery was wonderful and I have never had any other problems.
Hope this answered something.
