Hi, All! To summarize past posts, we're having a pre-holiday party on Sat. evening, Nov. 19th (the Sat. before Thanksgiving) from 6 p.m. till whenever Tammy says we have to leave. Based on the results of previous votes, it'll be at Healthtrax in Newington (where Tammy L. works) and will be catered by Peter Ligas. Healthtrax is charging us $100 which gives us the run of the place after they close, including pool, hot tub and sauna. Peter is charging just enough to cover his expenses. In my last post (Oct. 31st), I listed his proposed menu and asked for your comments/suggestions. Based on that, he's added chicken cacciatore (basically it's chicken and vegetables in tomato sauce). Now we just need you to vote on whether or not to add shrimp. Some people have requested it since, as we know, it's low-calorie, low-carb, low-fat and an excellent source of protein. But it's also expensive. So please respond by replying to this post by the end of Fri. (48 hrs. from now), so that we can set a definite price. Here are the choices: 1. No shrimp -- cost per person will be $15, whi*****ludes $10 for dinner and $5 towards Healthtrax's rental fee (with any excess collected going to a charity...probably Red Cross Hurricane Relief Fund). 2. Shrimp -- Peter checked and it'll cost an extra $2.50 per person, so the total cost per person would be $17.50. Once again, we'll go with whatever the majority decides. On Sat. I'll check your responses and will post the results and information as to where to send your checks. I looked up the info. I had for last year's pre-holiday party which was held at On the Border in Orange on a Sat. afternoon for about 2 1/2 to 3 hours. We had a private room and the buffet (to the best of our recollection) consisted of salad, salsa, tortilla chips, beans, rice, BBQ pork, make-your-own tacos with all the fixings and there may also have been some chicken. There was also a cash bar. We had fun visiting with each other, ate and had a gift exchange. The cost per person was $16, plus drinks and the optional purchase of a gift for the exchange (up to $10). Now compare that to what's planned for this year...a health club all to ourselves with full use of all facilities (including possibly dancing) and a more extensive menu. The cost this year? Either $15 or $17.50, plus bring-your-own cold beverages (NO alcohol) and the optional purchase of a gift for the exchange (up to $10). So even if we decide to have shrimp, it'll only be $1.50 more per person than it was last year, but we'll get to do a lot more and hopefully (if we have more than 20 people) make a charitable donation as well. So please post your vote for or against shrimp and watch this board this weekend for further instructions. Thank you, Debby

Debby, I don't eat shrimp, but I certainly don't mind if even a few people want it - I'd be HAPPY to pay the extra couple of bucks so that everyone gets what they want to eat. No problem at all. Thanks for organizing this all!! Tammy

Hi, Tammy! Some people have asked about dancing at the party. Is there an area at Healthtrax that's appropriate for dancing? If so, is there a boombox there or do we need to bring one? (Obviously we'd need to bring CD's.) Also, is there a TV and VCR? I ask because Adam Friedman said something at dinner Tues. night about bringing a tape of when he and Peter Ligas were in a production of Fiddler on the Roof. Hugs, Debby

We do have a t.v. and VCR. I'm sure we could find an area for dancing. We have a basketball court, 3 racquetball courts and a group exercise studio with a NICE stereo!

Hey Debby, I also vote for the shrimp choice added too. What a wonderful plan, great job on everything to you and Peter. I think the price is very reasonable for what we are doing and will have. I really hope to be able to come, I just found out my niece's birthday is the same night as this gathering. I have to see what time its ending, I really don't want to miss this. I will let you know. Hugs KimC
