Barbara: You may want to check to see if that's actually true. There is a popular myth on the Internet that you can donate skin to people who suffer severe burns, but that is NOT the case. Donated skin is, from what I've been told by "people in the know", like Shriners' Burn Centers, would NEVER be used for treatment of burns. They are always treated with grafts of the person's own skin or cadaver skin. Please see this website for a more in-depth discussion on why skin donation isn't done: http://www.transweb.org/reference/articles/donation/excess_skin_donation.html Bette

Hi Jayne, I just went to a support group meeting with my GBS surgeons and thier guest speaker was Dr. David Goodkind. He is out of New Haven, and the New Haven area. He seems very nice, great peronality and has been doing this for years. He also helps get approved what can be for plastic surgery through your insurance. They just dont forget about the GBS patients who need a tummy tuck and thier skin is hanging so low. I sound like you right now, I am an 16/18 but if I did'nt havr this skin I could fit into a 10/12 probably. I am going for my first consult on Halloween and i can get you info then. Also, when he was quoting some prices, he seems to be on the lower end compared to other prices I have seemed. He seems like a DR. who loves his job and loves to help people and not one out to make all the $$$$ he can. I will let you know once i go to my first consult 10/31. Take care and good luck! MaryJo

I will let you know what he said about all of this ... But I would like to have this surgery in April 2006 ( 18 months since Gastric Bypass) with preapproved paper from my insurance which I am working on it now. I am now wearing size 8 but you know me I have been exercise everyday. The reason I need tummy tuck because I have very bad rashes in my stomach area and lower back for medical reasons. Take care ! Good luck for your researching! Kathy K SMILE!

Thanks Kathy, Dr. A told me the same , except I no longer have the rash, guess I have to make one. My breasts won't be a problem as I have documented lower back problems. The tummy tuck Dr. A said that I would have problems. I am seeing my Dr. monthly for the documentation. My back is hurgin, I am a size 10, but the stomach is ugley. Let me know and I will come back to group at some point and we can talk. Thanks and good luck! Jannie

Dr. Ralph Crum, who operates out of Norwalk Hospital, is a great RNY surgeon and skilled in reconstructive procedures. I recommend him highly.

Have you had a consult with Dr Aranow? He does tummy tucks and also operates along side Dr Borokowski (a plastic surgeon) while he does other procedures like legs, arms, breasts, abs, etc. I have a friend going in two weeks for what seems like a total body lift and he's having both surgeons do it. Did you know that if you have a hernia or related rashes due to the skin, that a lot of times insurance will pay for some of the procedure? I've heard Dr Aranow say that a tummy tuck with him is about 12,000 dollars. paula

Thanks for responding. Yes he talked with me and said that I have no rashes and would not qualify. I will for the breasts, but I am going for monthly documentation anyway, hopeing tht insurance will pay for some, the breasts willl be covered, but I doubt much else. I still have to get it, as my back hurts regardless if I have rashes or not!! Thanks for responding Jannie
