Have you been there?
Hi Tt,
Dr Aranow suggests a high protein type of diet to lose those ten pounds before surgery. Like an Adkins or South Beach. He recommended South Beach to me.
I used:
http://www.southbeach-diet-plan.com
to help me along the way to know what to eat and not what to eat. I even added a protein drink for lunch or breakfast or in between to get in a LOT of protein before. Your body having a lot of protein before surgery helps in healing.
Add to this diet, a lot of WATER...up to 100 ounces a day AND
WALK, WALK, WALK
If you're not used to walking, start slow, just a stroll for five minutes or so and increase when you can. I barely could walk for five minutes and from July to Sept 28th of my surgery, I was walking 3 miles a day! I did it with baby steps.
I basically cut out all bad carb (had a treat now and then since it was summer) and did lean grilled meats with no bread, no pasta, etc.
The weight will come off if you put your mind to it. Don't sabatage your plans for getting the surgery by not getting those ten pounds off.
Dr A wanted me to lose ten, but I ended up losing 20 because I had extra time before surgery and kept on the diet. Plus, it's making it a lot easier to be on the all protein diet now that I'm post op without having to wean off of the carbs now...
Hope this helps. Keep your chin up...try to keep off of the carbs and you'll do great! You won't regret having the surgery, it's an awesome tool and you won't believe the weight loss so early on.
Email me with any questions.

Hi Tt,
Drink LOTS of water. I have to lose 20 lbs and I am down 14 and I swear it's the water. I'm also walking. I'm no****ching carbs, although I should be. I'm making it a point to eat healthy foods, not just low carb. You can do it. If I can get down 14 (and BELIEVE ME, it has been a struggle), you can do 10. I've been working on my 14 since June. But, it's been the same thing - on again, off again.
Good luck. I have faith in you!
