Airplane trip!
In 3 weeks I am off to Ireland.
I'm down 80 lbs. but I'm still a big girl...especially in the hips!
I'm a size 18 on top and a size 22 jeans. I'm also tall 5' 11".
Do you think I'll have a problem with the airplane seat?
And does anyone know which seats have a bit more hip room....Since it is a group trip ( I'm going single) I don't want to inconvenience anyone with intruding on their space. I am very anxious about this not for fear of flying...because of LOVE to travel.....but I'm sooo very afraid of having trouble with the seat & seat belts etc.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Kelly
Hi Kelly
When I met you at Walk for Obesity, you are tall lady I met ! SMILE! I know your body will fit airplane seat better and I do understand your panic about fitting seat and seat belt but I am positive you will be fine for airplane seat but you have long legs which is harder for long trip. HAVE A BLAST TIME THERE AND SHOW US SOME IRELAND PICTURES!!!!!!

Hi Kelly. My Wife is bigger in the hips than you and she go's on bussiness trips all the time so don't worry. If you know the airline you will be using I'm sure they have a website or info number you can use to answer any question you have. I close friend went To Ireland a month ago and she loved it so enjoy the trip and take lots of Pictures! Take Care,
Julio
P.S. If you need a seat belt extension just ask for one. They have them available.
Hey Kelly,
You will be fine, I was bigger than that a 26-28 and I fit in the seat. If you need the extension just ask them. But when I met you you did not look that big. I know you will be ok.
I hope you have a wonderful time!!!!!! Enjoy yourself and can't wait to hear all about your trip.

Fear Not! Transcontinental flights, in my experience, tend to use larger airplanes with a bit more room. (not a lot, but def. a bit more) You should be just fine. Do not be afraid to inform the flight attendant when you board what seat you're in and that you may need an extender. It's easier than trying to get their attention while you're seated and having to speak it loudly so that everyone around you hears about it. Better to pause upon boarding and just mention it.
I really dobut you'll need it tho. If you don't, just decline it when they do bring it to you.
Happy travels! Enjoy your trip to Ireland! We'll look forward to hearing all about it when you return.
