J's Food Log & K's Exercise Log Monday
Good morning Everybody,
hope all of you had a nice weekend. I shared this recipe I had for dinner yesterday. It was so good!!!
Lasagna Stuffed peppers
4 large green peppers, halved lengthwise and seeded [I used 2 peppers and 2 very lg portabella mushrooms, gills scraped out]
1 pound ground beef
1 clove garlic, minced
Salt and pepper, to taste
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder, divided
1/2 pound mushrooms, sliced [I omitted these--didn't have them in the house]
1 cup spaghetti sauce [I used a little more than 1 cup]
15 ounces whole milk ricotta cheese
2 tablespoons parmesan cheese
1 egg
6 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded
1/4 cup parmesan cheese
Place peppers in a large baking pan at least 9x13 inches; sprinkle inside of peppers with salt. Meanwhile brown the ground beef, garlic, mushrooms, salt, pepper and half the garlic powder; drain fat. Stir in spaghetti sauce and adjust seasoning as needed. Combine the ricotta cheese, egg and 2 tablespoons parmesan cheese in a small bowl; season with salt, pepper and remaining garlic powder. Divide ricotta mixture between the pepper halves. Top ricotta mixture with meat sauce; mound the mozzarella cheese over the top of each pepper. Sprinkle with the 1/4 cup parmesan. Bake at 350º for 45 minutes or until cheese is melted and browned.

Hi Kathy and Everyone,
Wow that recipe sounds great! I will try that this weekend.
I have been very busy and awfully overwhelmed since the kids got back to school! Now things seem to be settling down and I can spend time reconnecting with my WLS family.
I am still at a standstill as far as my weight loss goes, but feeling good about myself and where I am, and havent lost sight of my 10 lbs more goal.
I was able to go see Barbara Thompson on Saturday! I went as a guest of one of Dr Barba's patients and I had a wonderful time. What an inspiration she is!
Today I am going to watch my carbs and increase my water and protein!
Tonight is my favorite night at the Gym!
1.5 hours of cardio and weights and then 1 hour of Pilates.
Have a great day everyone!
Sandy
Hey guys, I have a question.
In order to get the weight loss going again (I've been at 170 or so for a very long while, and I really need to get on track at a better pace), I have seen posts that you should restart the diet like from the beginning. i.e. protein drinks, then purees....like from the start after your surgery.
Is this true? Does this help? I haven't tried it yet, but I did run out to buy some Isopures just in case.....
Thanks!
Tammy
Hi Tammy
I have heard this from other WLS people but I have not tried it myself since I am underweight from Dr A's goal weight. Try this stage 3 for a week to give your body flush away then start on stage 4/5 slowly. It works for me because I do not use any Carb because I was ex Carb queen before I had this surgery. You know me... I exercise everyday which jogging burns my calories quickly. Good Luck! Hope to see you again at Post op meeting
Hugs

Those peppers sound wonderful Kathy, Will put them in my little book.
B 2oz's chedder cheese with two very small pieces of rye bread
L 3oz's chicken breast with 2 tablespoons of mixed veggies
S slice of roast turkey cold cut
D Turkey burgers tonight with a little chili on them and shredded chedder. No Bun
No Gym today, went yesterday. Will be a nordic trac nite tonight.
Tammy, when I get stuck. I slip a Keytone diet meal into my daily food intake. They are basically just a cup of either chicken or beef broth with 3 ounces of meat, poultry, of fish. I used shrimp for the fish and cold cuts for the meat and poultry. Roast beef and Turkey. Good Luck! Know you will do ok! Take Care,
Julio
