I had my open RNY w/ Dr Aranow on Sept 28th I'm feeling very weak and lightheaded yesterday and today. I've had a very tired and woosy feeling all day long. I wasn't able to do my treadmill time because of it. I've been getting in at least 60gms of protein in a day and about 50 oz of water a day. I am taking my vitamins twice a day. I'm on pureed stage and am doing 2oz of pureed tuna, shrimp or chicken per meal, supplementing a broth w/ unjury or V8 w/ unjury to get my protein up. Is this just normal healing taking place? Or could it be just from not eating a lot? Maybe it's dehydration? I'm not on any blood pressure meds, as my blood pressure is always low anyways. Dr Aranow is off this week at a seminar. Should I still call the office if it continues??? Did anyone experience this at two-three weeks out? I've not eaten any sugar since before surgery. Maybe low blood sugar? Thanks in advance for any input. paula

Sorry to hear you're feeling this way Paula. I would defineitly call the Dr's office on Monday just to make sure. They might want to check your bloodwork. Maggie

The same thing happened to me at about 2-3 weeks out. I saw my doc and they said I was dehydrated and that I needed to get in at least 65 ounces of fluid if not more. Once I upped my fluid intake I felt normal again. Hope you feel better. Vickie

Hey Paula, Definately call the doctor's office, you don't want to take any chances, you may be dehydrated. Good Luck and take care. Hugs KimC

Yup. Sounds like dehydration. As little as a 10% loss of water is enough to cause these problems. 50 oz of water a day is real good, expecially after only 2.5 weeks. Some practices (in other areas) are talking about needing 100 oz of water A DAY!! So, up the water and you should be fine. Peter
