Holiday party...

Here's the post that Debby M. posted...it got scrolled off of the first page; repost: Hi, All! A few weeks ago, Maggie posted that she and I had spoken about having our 2nd annual CT message board pre-holiday party. We're thinking of the Sat. before Thanksgiving (Nov. 19th) and several people suggested locations. The most popular suggestion seemed to be Tammy's. She works at Healthtrax in Newington (just off the Berlin Turnpike) and said that we could book it for after they close (6 p.m.) on Sat. Although it doesn't have a kitchen (so we'd need coolers, crockpots, etc.), it does have an indoor pool and jacuzzi! And we'd have the place to ourselves. I e-mailed Tammy to ask her some more questions about it and she raised the fact that absolutely NO alcohol is allowed on the premises. IMHO, if we don't NEED food to have a good time, we shouldn't need alcohol to have a party, especially with the perks of a pool and jacuzzi. But it's not up to me to make that decision. So please reply to this post giving us your opinion. Here are the choices as I see them (feel free to make other suggestions if I've missed something): 1. Have the party at Healthtrax with no alcohol and no kitchen. We bring all the food and beverages and need to have coolers, ice, crockpots, etc., but we would have the use of a pool and jacuzzi. 2. Rent someplace like the Polish-American club in Newington (another suggestion of Tammy's). Such a place would have a kitchen and would allow alcohol. 3. Go to a restaurant with a private room for parties. We wouldn't have to organize who's bringing what, shop, cook, bring coolers and crockpots, etc. Please reply soon because we've only got a little over 5 wks. left and we have to book someplace ASAP. The fair thing seems to be to let the majority rule, so in a few days we'll see what the majority has said... Debby

Hey Paula, I think having it at where Tammy works is a great idea, we can all enjoy ourselves in the pool and jacuzzi. I am willing to bring lots of propels, crystal light or any other types of drinks that we can have, I have a couple of big coolers I can bring various snacks and food for us to all share. I think it would save us all the hassle of having to book a restaurant or renting a hall. That could get very costly for some. Like Tammy and you and others have said we don't need alcohol to have a great time. This is a great opportunity for us all to get together and have alot of fun with each other. I hope we can bring our spouses or significant others too so everyone can meet and get to know eachother. I vote for Healthtrax. Thanks so much Tammy!!!!!!! Hugs KimC

FYI - Healthrax also has a big ole' refridgerator and a freezer that are empty we can have access to. Another thought is that we also have a "Youth Activity Center." My proposition is that for those that cannot find babysitters for kids (if there are any that may need one) that we chip in and hire a Healthtrax Employee to come in and watch the kids if those of you want some "grown up" time. Of course, the kids might not like being in a babysitting room while their parents are swimming in a pool.....but this just a suggestion. ;) Again, things are very flexible on my end. So, let me know what you guys want/need and I can try to accomodate. Tammy

It sounds fine to me also. I also have a real popcorn machine what I could bring and we could have fresh popcorn. We have warming trays, sterno setups, coffee pots, ect available. All I need to know is what to bring. Peter
