Hi everyone, Just wondering how long your journey was from your first info session all the way to the morning of your WLS.............. I would also like to hear other pre-ops stories and where you are at in your journey, what tests you had, or are having etc I love to hear other people stories and I think it will really help other pre-ops and post-ops ~Bethany

Hi Bethany, I went to Dr Aranow's first info seminar in the beginning of May, and had my first appointment with him in late June. Did all of my pre op testing through July/Aug. Got my approval in mid Sept and had my surgery two weeks ago yesterday, on Sept 28th. You can read my profile. It details things there...maybe too much so! I'm working on it. paula

Hey Bethany, My process was all in the matter of months. If you go to my profile you can see how quickly everything was done. I was approved in September and my date was set for January 2005 and then moved back to December due to the insurance companies changing. All my tests were done within a few weeks, my meetings too. If you have any questions or concerns don't hesitate to contact me at any time. Good Luck sweetie, take care. Hugs KimC

Hi Bethany, I think it all depends on your flexibility in scheduling your pre-op appts. I went to an info seminar in beginning of august 2004, I met surgeon and went through all pre-op appts by beginning of sept. 2004..... Had to switch surgeons due to insurance coverage....and went on a vacation to Las Vegas which I didn't want to miss. Still had my surgery 10/28/04.... All this time flies by! Good luck! Kelly

Hi Bethany, I went to my first info meeting mid January. Surgery was end of March. Started practicing eating my meals on those little paper dessert dishes to get used to eating after surgery. Good Luck! Julio

Hi Bethany I started with the info session at the end of Sept. Met with Dr. Aranow, the dietician and psych all in November was approved in December and had WLS Jan. 10th. I've lost 70 lbs so far and still going although things have slowed down somewhat. I have met the Dr's goal of 70 lbs and now I will try to reach my goal of 80 lbs. I swam all summer for exercise and the other day I ordered Core Secrets exercise program for the winter. It's the program with the exercise ball. so I should have 10 more pounds off by my 1 year anniversary date (hopefully). That is my story in a nutshell. Hang in there no matter how long it takes. It's worth the wait. Take Care Cindy

Thirteen months from info session to scalpel. I wanted to make sure that it was the right thing to do, and that I wasn't rushing into something becuase I thought it was a "quick fix". As to a quick fix, this surgery is probably the farthest thing away from a quick fix that one could ever imagine. --Steve
