All Over Again!

Well I feel like I'm going back in time getting everything done all over again for the revision - I have to say that this time I'm extremely scared of the surgery - the band didn't frighten me as much as going for the RNY......

I have most of the new tests done - I don't know if I'll have to do all of them over again - like the cardio and the psych - but I've done the PFT and the sleep study - Dr. R had me go in for an extensive blood test - they took 12 vials of blood! The first time I went my vein collapsed and they could only get 1 vial out of me - it was a fasting test so I didn't drink anything - the woman told me that I could drink water (am I the only one who didn't know this?)... So I went back a week later and drank like a camel that morning and there was no problem getting the blood - I also had to go for an upper GI to check out the band - that barium swallow stuff is soooo disgusting = gross, gross, gross!!

So I have an appt. with Dr. R. on 4/6 and I guess that's when they'll let me know the date for the revision and then the wait for insurance approval will begin....

Anyway - not sure how many are following my journey but just wanted to give an update - I appreciate the support of those who have gone before me and those who are walking the path with me right now!

Tammy, I am happy to hear you are making progress. Try not to be scared. You are in good hands. I still can't get over how much blood they take each time. Better to be safe than sorry.

Good Luck with the insurance approval!

Thanks Nancy! It is kind of shocking to see all those vials they pull for the blood test - but it also gives a sense of confidence that this doctor really wants to see what's going on!

Thanks for the wish of luck!

Yes, fasting for blood work you can have water only, but for surgery it is NPO which is absolutely nothing no water not anything.

I wish you all the best on this continuing journey. Try not to be frightened of the surgery, it is normal though to be somewhat nervous of the unknown. I hope you get a date soon and a quick approval from insurance .

LOL Here I am thinking you're crazy to be nervous about the surgery when you had to go get fills. That's one of many reasons I didn't do the band.

Good luck with allof this and if you need anything let me know.

The fills weren't bad at all actually....I never had a problem with getting the fill in or out

I didn't mean it that way.  I just meant that I could never have done the fills and would have been scared each time I would have had to get one. It's a needle thing that I am pretty much over now since I had about 6 too many IV's last year.
