Please Give Us Your Opinion
Hi, All!
A few weeks ago, Maggie posted that she and I had spoken about having our 2nd annual CT message board pre-holiday party. We're thinking of the Sat. before Thanksgiving (Nov. 19th) and several people suggested locations. The most popular suggestion seemed to be Tammy's. She works at Healthtrax in Newington (just off the Berlin Turnpike) and said that we could book it for after they close (6 p.m.) on Sat. Although it doesn't have a kitchen (so we'd need coolers, crockpots, etc.), it does have an indoor pool and jacuzzi! And we'd have the place to ourselves. I e-mailed Tammy to ask her some more questions about it and she raised the fact that absolutely NO alcohol is allowed on the premises. IMHO, if we don't NEED food to have a good time, we shouldn't need alcohol to have a party, especially with the perks of a pool and jacuzzi. But it's not up to me to make that decision. So please reply to this post giving us your opinion. Here are the choices as I see them (feel free to make other suggestions if I've missed something):
1. Have the party at Healthtrax with no alcohol and no kitchen. We bring all the food and beverages and need to have coolers, ice, crockpots, etc., but we would have the use of a pool and jacuzzi.
2. Rent someplace like the Polish-American club in Newington (another suggestion of Tammy's). Such a place would have a kitchen and would allow alcohol.
3. Go to a restaurant with a private room for parties. We wouldn't have to organize who's bringing what, shop, cook, bring coolers and crockpots, etc.
Please reply soon because we've only got a little over 5 wks. left and we have to book someplace ASAP. The fair thing seems to be to let the majority rule, so in a few days we'll see what the majority has said...

HEALTHTRAX- definitely- I am sooo there for the Jacuzzi!!!!
Most people pre-op can't really drink- they are dieting to lose pre op pounds- and you post ops are so light weight in terms of holding your liqour that you can drink a miniscule amount anyhow. So what difference does it make????
I think the ambience of Healthtrax versus the Polish American Club makes Healthtrax the clear winner here.
I believe we can rent chafing dishes from Taylor Rental or someplace like that for the food. And I have two big punch bowl- we can do some kind of sugarles*****h drink I will have to think about that one.
I would be open to whatever the majority decides but my vote would be for just having it at a restaurant with a private room. This way no one has to be bothered with cooking, organizing, etc. During the holidays things get hectic and it would be much simpler this way.
But of course, that is just this girl's opinion. I know that some people really enjoy the whole potluck thing. At which point my second vote would for Healthtrax. I am really feeling the whole jacuzzi idea.

Hey another option is to have this thing catered. Order a few trays of things...and figure out a per person price. Only problem would be with no shows...so we would have to have checks sent beforehand. I do like the potluck thing too...hot and cold dishes....like you said its not about the food....

Hi Debby,
I would prefer we do Healthtrax or restaurant. I am fine with either one and alchol does not play a part in my diet so that is not a factor. I'd say pick one and book the date. I think it is better to bring pot luck that way nobody is out any money. I just remember what happened last year!
Thanks for organizing!

Hi Debby,
Thanks for organizing this for us.
I'd say go with Healthtrax...everyone could bring something and we'd all have fun with just our own company.
Who needs the booze? I'm two weeks out and can't have a drop anyways! We'll make our own fun in the pool! And it'll be good to put on a bathing suit and have some weight gone by then and not feel "judged" by everyone...
