Home from surgery....
And in the worst pain I have ever felt in my entire life. This surgery was a million times worse than my Open Bypass! I had virtually no/little pain with that. This is the total opposite. I am in pain 24/7, can barely move, am nauseus all day and night, can barely drink or eat because as soon as I do either I am in agony. I have tried hot foods cold foods, hot liquids...cold liquids...neither makes a difference or stays down easier. I hate being nauseus more than anything, and being in pain ranks right up with it. I havent had a pain free moment since I opened my eyes in recovery. I am cut open the entire length of my original incision, as far as i can tell, but maybe longer. I cannot lay in bed, I have a hard time walking, I have severe pain in my kidneys, have a hard time going pee, which I had this prob in the hosp and was sent home anyway. I would go MAYBE once a shift if I was lucky and all this while getting tons of IV fluids that have settled into my body and made itself at home. I am up 9 pounds and counting so far since the surgery. My hernia was even bigger than we thought and I knew it was pretty big, but I was closed up with no mesh which i suppose is good? Nothing was ever explained to me. Every time I spoke with my dr after surgery I was totally drugged to the point of being incoherent. They tried to send me home the morning after surgery and my nurse and I refused. This whole experience was horrible and i feel very bad for anyone else who has to go through it. I just wanted to check in and I need to go lay down (well half sit half lay) and be drugged. This is my new life I guess. I lost 96 pounds for this huh??? Oh well....I will get thru it eventually but I will NEVER go thru this again. God forbid I get another hernia...I wont have it fixed. So anyone who can wait...do so....because now I wont go for a TT or any other surgery. Enough is enough....
Hope everyone is well...take care and ill bb when I feel better. IF it ever happens.
hugsssssssssss

Krista,
I am so sorry you are in pain. I really do hope you start feeling better soon. Since I have never had that sort of surgery, I can't imagine the pain you are in. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this ordeal and I hope the pain is only temporary. Remember we are all here to support you.
Lots of love,
Kelly
Dear Krista:
Sorry to hear that you had such a bad time. I had Lapascopic With Fairfield Bariactrics at St Vincents in Bridgeport. It was a piece of cake. No pain meds and walking an hour after surgery. I don't understand why all doctors don't perform this surgery lapiscopically. Sure hope you feel better soon.
Pam
Krista. I am a firm advocate in pain management. Pain affects your entire body. You don't feel like doing the things you need to do to get better like deep breathing and walking. Why don't you call your doc and let him know how you feel? There could be something going on with the kidney pain that he should know about. There are meds he can give you for the nausea also. Remember that the squeaky wheel gets the oil and you must advocate for yourself. You can also explain to him that you don't remember what he told you post op. Write your questions down before he calls you back so you will get them all answered. Don't worry about the 9 lbs. That will be gone soon enough. Take care, Linnie
Krista, contact your doctors office asap! Tell them everything that is going on. You must be an advocate for yourself. Things should get better soon, but in the meantime you need to have adequate pain control in order to walk as you should and maybe have your urine tested for a possible infection and to be sure you are emptying your bladder fully.
All the best. Sher
