Middletown Meeting Monday? (Columbus Day)
Hi Debbie,
I was wondering if it's okay for me to come to the Monday meeting? I am not yet a patient of Dr Aranow's, although it's certainly not for lack of trying. I had called back in August and was told the soonest I could be scheduled for one of their informational meetings was 11/15!. And they explained that was the first step in the process. So I am signed up and waiting. But I would really love to come and meet folks who have had it done, etc. My friend Kathie & myself are both coming to that November meeting, so if it's okay for us to come this Monday, please let me know. Thanks very much
Patrique
Hi, Patrique!
It's definitely OK for you and Kathie to come to the meeting Mon. night. And please consider going to dinner with us afterward. We go to either Ruby Tuesday's or 99 in Cromwell, so that's on your way back to Newington. Part of the pre-op requirements is attendance at a certain number of support group meetings. I started with the informational meeting and then went to the support group meetings (because I wasn't aware of OH.com until Dr. A. mentioned it at the info. meeting and thus didn't know about the support group meetings until I picked up a schedule at the info. meeting). You might want to check with Dr. A's office as to whether support group meetings attended before the info. meeting count towards the requirement, but since they're closed Mon. for Columbus Day, you can't do it before this meeting. So hopefully it'll count, but even if it doesn't, it'll be a good learning experience for you and Kathie. Just be sure to sign in on the pre-op sheet at the door, so that you'll get credit for attendance.
Hope to meet you tomorrow night,
Debby
You are welcome to come up to East Hampton and walk the track near my house before the meeting. Just email me at [email protected] if you decide to do that.
Dave
Hi, Maggie!
I'm glad you think you'll be up to coming to the meeting. If you want to do something a little less strenuous than walking a track, how about shopping? From where you'll be in New Haven, it'll take you about 45 mins. to get to Middlesex Hospital, so if you'll be done at about 3:30 and the meeting starts at 6:30, you have about 2 hrs. to kill. (I'd meet you in New Haven for a cup of coffee (decaf, of course) except I have an appointment at 4 p.m.) You'll be taking 91 north to exit 22, and then Rt. 9 south to exit 13 (I e-mailed you complete directions from Rt. 9). Ocean State Job Lot is in Meriden, just a few blocks from the East Main St. exit off 91. (In fact, after my appointment, I'll be picking up Christine D. and we're planning to make a quick stop there on our way to the meeting.) Another place we often stop on our way to a support group meeting is Uptown Consignments in Rocky Hill. It's on the Rocky Hill-Cromwell border and is a few blocks from exit 23 off 91 (just one exit further north than Rt. 9). We like it because they have a decent selection of plus-size items, but they have even more stuff in your size, and their prices are good. Tomorrow night I'll probably be wearing one of the 2 short-sleeved shirts that I bought there for $3 each (one of which was obviously never worn since it still had the original tags attached) and, for when it gets cooler later, I'll bring along the jacket that I bought there for $5 (which also had never been worn). They close at 6 p.m. on Mondays, so when we stop there that leaves us just enough time to drive to the hospital, park and get to the meeting.
Do you think that you'll be going out to dinner with us after the meeting? I was thinking that since it's already Oct., we need to get ourselves organized if we want to have that party we talked about next month. Over dinner might be a good time to talk to people about it.
Hugs,
Debby
