I am proud to let you know that I will be walking in the Fairfield County "America's Walk for Diabetes" event on October 16th as Co-Captain of Fairfield County Bariatrics' Team BARI. This is the first time that Fairfield County Bariatrics has sponsored a team. The walk steps off at 9 am from Fairfield Beach's Penfield I Pavilion and travels two courses of 3 or 6 miles through historic Fairfield and Southport. I am taking part in this event because I believe in and support the Association's mission: to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. We know that many of us are suffering from "Donation Fatigue." In the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the American Diabetes Association has mobilized its financial resources, corporate sponsor relationships, network of health-related volunteers, and online technology to support the relief efforts to date. They have stayed true to their commitment to ADA's mission helping all people affected by diabetes. Your support this year is more important than ever. Every year the ADA walks to fight diabetes. This year we will be walking to try to ensure that everyone whose lives are touched by diabetes receive the support they need, especially those that have been affected by the hurricanes. More information on the American Diabetes Association, its programs and diabetes in general can be found at the Association's Web site: www.diabetes.org For more information on America's Walk for Diabetes, how you can be a part of it or how to start your own team, please visit www.diabetes.org/walk. Your efforts truly make a difference. Bette

From a type 1 Diabetic I want to thank you for walking in such an important event. It is great to see a team from the Bariatric group I plan on using! I am participating at the one in New London. I would like to sponser you but every time I click on your name, I get your welcome page but I don't see a way to sponsor you!! I must be blind but if you can help me navigate the web site, I would like to donate! hugs, Nancy K

Well, just in case there was a problem with what I posted, I went to check. If you go to: http://main.diabetes.org/site/TR?px=2452873&fl=en_US&s_tafId=23517&pg=personal&fr_id=2747 there's a little box at the top that says something like "Click Here to Sponsor Me". After that it's pretty much just fill in the blanks.
